bocabasser Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 left saturday morning @4am and decided to fish a little tourny in belle glade. came in 5th with a 7 pounder. 2,3, and 4th place were all mcmillans. brandon had a 9.15 and jared had an 8. burke won with 25+ pounds. caught a mess of fish. sunday was the 3rd round of the kotg. had just under 19 pounds with a six pounder. missed two five pounders that would of put us around 23 pounds. lots of fish on the lake now. here is a pic of the 7 pounder on saturday. shallow thinker Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Man, how do you guys do it, was getting quantity but no quality. Same here. A 9 lb limit by 8am... but weighed just under 11 lb. Didn't get big bites but the afternoon was fun with school sized fish. The winner had 30.5 lbs and lots of 5-6 pounders in that weigh in line. Lake O is awesome right now. Quote
GLADES Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Agreed, the McMillan's are some of the best out there. Great job Bruce, you seem to coming up just a little short each time but I am sure your time will come. My weekend turned into a much needed practice session... My son John and I went to Belle Glade and fished out of slims on Saturday and were struggling with the wind, and lack of knowledge of the lake. We fished for 2 hours mid morning could not catch anything. Later at 4pm, we moved to boat to the Moore haven ramp and caught 6 between us in 1 hour at the Monkey box and 1 hour at the Harney pond canal. My live well pump stopped working Saturday(the old boat took a pounding) so we decided to skip the Sunday tournament and we went back to Moore haven and the Monkey Box. My son landed a 7.4 and I had a 4.8 plus a 3 and 2's for a 19 lb bag. Any of you guys see the chick with the pink inflatable at the tiki bar Saturday night, what a riot! Quote
Super User South FLA Posted March 8, 2011 Super User Posted March 8, 2011 Bruce, Did you flip for the big bite or mostly moving baits? Nice outing! Brandon is on them has been on them since the Everstart toury! Quote
salmicropterus Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 My friend Greg Swinea and his partner Don Demott had 28 and finished 3rd-ouch!!! Tough track. There can be small differences in location between small bags and short bags and we were on the short end in the other club T out of Belle Glade on Sat. We saw people catching 3s and 4s all day about 100 yds away from us but couldn't get it going ourselves that way doing the same things. I talked to a top guide today and he told me about a place where if you stay put you catch nothing for 1-2 hrs then 5 to 7s for a half hour-on artificials Quote
salmicropterus Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Ha-meant small bags and big bags. I've been having the small bag blues LOL Quote
shallow thinker Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'm going to head up to Lake O again on Saturday for some fun fishing. Thinking about putting in at J&S and exploring up that way. Does anyone have any advice (particularly if the area is fishable on a north wind)? Looks like we have a front Thurs-Fri so I'd expect a NE wind and a better bite in the afternoon. It's been 20 yrs since I've been in that area of the lake. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
bocabasser Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Bruce, Did you flip for the big bite or mostly moving baits? Nice outing! Brandon is on them has been on them since the Everstart toury! we actually caught fish on everything we threw. pitchin jigs to clumps, big ez, and big worms. a lot of guys were to far inside. we found our better fish on the outside lines and in the middle. Yeah that was fun...it's hard to imagine how many fish were in that last spot we fished. We must have caught +30(??) between 1:00 and 2:30. You know in a tourney like this you have to catch 5lbers, but when you're catching fish every other cast it sure is hard to leave... Quote
