bocabasser Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 put in at slims at 6:15. super foggy and chilly. ran to a spot in the rim ditch and caught 6 fish on a trap. ran to buzzards and caught fish on the outside and inside. lots of unoccupied beds. saw a bunch of big fish moving through the vegetation after we spooked them. went to the shoal and it was loaded with boats. fished that eel grass out front and caught another half dozen fish with the biggest being 3 pounds. ran north to cochrans and saw even more beds. the females were not locked yet, but they were near because they kept taking off as we got too close. very spooky fish. caught a bunch there with the biggest again at 3 pounds. went to the east wall and could not believe the amount of beds. i dont know when the females will be locked, but it has to be soon.because they were near, but very skittish. caught a bunch there with two 4 pounders. the lake is low, so take extra caution. had close to 18 pounds today but it could have been a lot better. this weekend and next week should continue to be hot. piscicidal Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Bruce, I fished some of those same areas out by the shoal. Saw a bunch of beds but no fish. We've got 4-5 days of warm, stable weather coming...looks like the fishing is gonna be good. I'm heading out there Tuesday. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 17, 2011 Super User Posted February 17, 2011 There was already a big spawn that took place during and after the FLW tournament, fish are spooky since everyone and their brother has been pounding them. I had a similar outing last week, where I caught plenty, but couldn't find any fish committed to beds and spooked plenty of big wakes off bedding areas. I going to try to head out next week and possibly hook up with Mike. Mike are you certain its Tuesday that you are headed out there? Quote
piscicidal Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Robert, it is looking like Tuesday for me. I'll send you a PM... Quote

SoFl-native Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 fished out of J&S on friday. caught a few fish here and there then came across an area with hard bottom slightly stained w hydrilla. It was on like gangbusters. Caught 15 in about 30 minutes on horny toads. there were big clusters of beds. females seemed to be around them but werent on them. fun day. btw you have to idle through 12 inches of water to get out of J&S. Shane Procell Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I have made plans on 2 occasions lately and both times friends backed out. I don't really care to fish alone.....especially on water i have never been too. Most of my free time is durring the work week and most guys are working. Need to make friends with some independantly wealthy and or retired guys ;D Quote
piscicidal Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I went to Okeechobee today with my Dad. It was a pretty casual trip...fished 10:00-3:00, mainly chuckin' and windin'. Managed to catch about 15 with two nice 4lb chunkers. Fished around the shoal north of Uncle Joes up toward Cochrans. Quote

I am a novice on this lake compared to Bruce, Kenny, Dale, Robert, etc...But, if you don't mind fishing with a novice, let me know. I can usually swing it if I have a little advance notice to arrange my schedule. Quote
