Shane Procell Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Anybody have a seat open for Okeechobee this week? I've got most of the week open and have never been to the Big "O". I have boat and willing to take it, but again I'am not familiar with the lake. I'll probably go whether anybody goes with me but figured it would be more fun to go with another another angler. Holler if you interested. Shane Quote
BANDITBASSER Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I'll be at the north end Wed. & thurs but I'm not bringing my boat this time. Fishing should be picking back up again Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 15, 2011 Super User Posted February 15, 2011 Capt. Shane, Man you posted this a week to late ;D! This front most likely pushed them into the mats, but as stated earlier the warming trend should have them on fire again soon. Went out last week and ended up catching about 35-50, most were in the 2lb range with a 4lb kicker, had a a HUGE blow up at the end of the day and I suspect it was a big MAMMA. What day are you planning on going? I like going out of Indian Praire or Okee-Tantie ramp which is a pretty far drive for you. I would consider the Refuge though . Also want to explore myself out of J&S since the lock is open there and Dean Rojas had a nice bag fishing the FROG bite last week there ;D Quote
piscicidal Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I plan on making another trip to Big "O" around Tues/Weds next week...somewhat dependant on weather. I have my father with me so no backseat available...sorry. Anyone want to hook up tho, send me a PM.... Quote
GLADES Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Work is very busy this week. I might be fishing the lake next week with my son. Quote

Probably will not be going now, picked up some glades trips. Quote
BANDITBASSER Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 If your going to J&S be careful lots of rocks Quote
evrgladesbasser Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Guys be very careful on lake O. I hit a rock out of the Clewiston Cut over the weekend which completely wrecked my lower unit. This was in the main channel and I was between the markers. Earlier last week fishing was awesome on the lake, the front seemed to shut them down somewhat but hopefully it will pick back up soon.... I'm out of commission for a while but still looking forward to getting back up there Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 16, 2011 Super User Posted February 16, 2011 If your going to J&S be careful lots of rocks Ain't that the truth! Need to make sure you are way out before turning, rocks on the left and right of the canal especially from the lock to about 600-900 yards out. Quote

BANDITBASSER Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 J&S is a little community on the east side of Lake Okeechobee in Martin county. you can put in at the boat ramp in the rim canal and lock throu to the lake. For those that don't know any thing about Okeechobee basically anywhere you see kissimmee grass you will find rocks Quote

George Welcome Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Okeechobee is at 12.34 - know where you are going or don't go. Still plenty of water, but not everywhere and lots of rock. Quote
