Super User fishinfiend Posted January 10, 2011 Super User Posted January 10, 2011 I have heard the fishing reports coming out of the Delta right now are less than desirable. It is very high and muddy. Fishing has been made even less productive by all the wind. This area is not easily accessed without a boat. You can fish from the causey or Blakeley State Park. Unfortunately, you may not catch anything but catfish and croaker. The weather is supposed to be better this weekend. It should be drier, less windy, and warmer. You may be better of by hitting a pier with shrimp for reds and trout, which are biting pretty good right now. I hope you enjoy your stay. Congratulations to your son. Quote

GLoomis711 Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I live like 45mins from Mobile. Tensaw (Mobile Delta) has many launches on it, if you're fishing from a boat, I'd launch at Cliffs, a public launch a little ways up Tensaw. You can go down river and fish the delta for specks, reds, flounder, and bass. Or go up river and fish the main river or the lakes such as Miffin or Dennis. If you're fishing from the bank, there are piers in the delta area but will be all saltwater fishing. I would drive a little ways and fish the Gulf Shores Pier. Quote

I go to Orange Beach every summer which is 10 minutes from the Pier and i think 45 to an hour from Mobile. But again this is for saltwater. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 16, 2011 Super User Posted January 16, 2011 First, we are all proud of your son and his service to our country. We need more guys like him and please thank him for all of us on the Forum. I have no idea now to fish Mobile Bay other than to take my south Louisiana experience and suggest using live shrimp or baby croakers off the piers for redfish and speckled trout plus whatever takes the bait. If you can't find a way to keep the shrimp live check out the GULP! saltwater baits. We killed the croakers on them up here on the Rappahannock River so they do work. Good luck and have a safe trip. GLoomis711 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 The Kings will be on the pier as well. While fishing with bigger baits there is a number of fish you can catch on the pier. Cobia, Redfish, Flounder, Spanish, Bluefish. There will always be SOMETHING out there Isn't always good ! Quote
