bocabasser Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 put in at the park at 6:15. this is the first of many trips preparing for the king of the glades series. ran to the fingers and fished until 10 am without a single bite. water was 57 degrees. ran to the alley and caught fish at every bridge with a caroilna rig. also flipped up a 3 pounder. i found a decent pattern with a giggy head. caught around 12 pounds at my first spot. ran farther west and stayed with that giggy pattern and caught another 12 pounds of fish. flipped a little, but nothing. ran back east and fish the wier and caught a bunch of 2 pounders on a carolina rig and a swimming senko. i doubt i will fish the wiers at tourny time because of the traffic. had between 10 and 12 pounds at the wier. if you see any rocks, throw a giggy on or near it, and you will get bit. i have a feeling the king series is going to be tough with this cold weather we have been having. any one going to fish it this year? Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 24, 2010 Super User Posted December 24, 2010 Depends, do you need a partner? Quote
piscicidal Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 We plan on fishing the monthly tourneys. I'm gonna miss the first one though (1/12), I'll be in China. Quote
GLADES Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I might go for it this year. I will look into it. If the water level keeps dropping, HP should be on fire. Quote
bocabasser Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 Depends, do you need a partner? sorry doug, i'm set. find someone and fish it. like glades said, if the water continues to drop, the canals will be on fire. just gotta find the big ones. blm should have at least 75 boats an event. great prizes at each event. go to kingoftheglades.com for more info. Wow, that is almost exactly what we did last Saturday. What is up with the Fingers? I can honestly say that is the first time I've ever been up there w/o a bite. We are fishing the qualifiers for the KOTG. I haven't been out to the flats off the L-67? Are they accessible? Otherwise it's going to be a canal deal and I struggle there to catch enough weight. I'm planning to go out again Sunday. Quote
GLADES Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I just went to the KOTG web site. I am in this year. Wow this will be a lot of fun. I have the next 2 weekends off, time to visit HP and locate my bass. The 3/06 T at Clewiston is Gambler baits only? Quote

My question though is does that make it a "no-entry fee" deal like the other Gambler only T's? Quote
GLADES Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I am new to this so I do not know. I would expect the T fee is the same. Hopefully, if Gambler is involved, they sweeten up the prize money. Quote
Catching Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Nice to see some fish being caught there, have not fished holiday in a few weeks. Plan on fishing the KOTG series it would be nice to put some faces to the screen names. Good Luck to all There is a smaller tournament on Saturday as well out at Holiday should be a nice warm up for the KOTG just hope they leave some fish behind for Sunday. Quote
GLADES Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Is the Saturday T at HP a club or open T? Quote
Catching Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 It is a open T, think we are fishing both now, boy will I need to play nice with the wife Quote

I'm going to try and get out Sunday. I know from your picture, I've seen you around. I'll be running a green, silver, ivory TR-21. Hope to see you out there Quote
Catching Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 We have a Red Nitro, but will not be at the park this Sunday, Maybe Saturday, Getting the boat organized Friday. Just finished cleaning and re-greasing the reels, need to get some new line on a few but other than that I am ready. Had a friend out there today and could not keep the two pounder off the line using Spanky's watermelon red Quote
Triton Bob Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Nice to see the parking coming back. Quote
Catching Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Picked up about thirty 1-2 pounders on the alley today, missed a good one flipping (angler error) :-[ forgot to tighten the drag :-[ Going to be fun out there this year if the water stays low. Quote
salmicropterus Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I think the 11-12 and 13s of last year are this years 12-15 inchers. There's is a ton of them Quote
Shane Procell Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Picked up a bedded Big Cypress bass yesterday that look as if it had swallowed a NFL football. Still slow in the Cypress but looking much better. On a side note the water is level to just over the rim. Should be a foot over rim this time of the year. This is gonna be an awesome year for bass! Quote
Triton Bob Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I heard the park water leavel was already down several feet from a month ago Quote
shallow thinker Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Like others have reported, I found good numbers of small fish out on the alley on Friday. It didn't matter what you threw the fish were cookie cutter size. I had nothing till 10am and then it was game on. Tomorrow I will look at the marsh areas to see if there's enough water to run and some better fish. Sunday's update.... the marsh is too skinny to fish. I idled into area 1 about a 1/2 mile. It's 14 inches deep and now the domain of the duck hunters. Back in L67A I did OK pitching the pads. I also tried few banks up on the alley and found some fish deeper than on friday. Quote
piscicidal Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Good luck in the KOTG tourney this weekend, Jack. Wish I was there to help you, but work calls. I'll be back to weigh you down for the February qualifier. Good luck to everyone else as well: Bruce/Kenny/Dan/Salmi/Glades/etc.... Quote
atrocity123 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 The KOTG will be me first bass tournament Anyone have a rough guess on how many boats will show on Sunday? Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted January 8, 2011 Super User Posted January 8, 2011 A bunch. Great weather = lots of boats. Quote
evrgladesbasser Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 There may be as many as 50 boats it's become a popular event. Bring your "A" game on Sunday! Good luck your first tourney will be a tough one Quote
atrocity123 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Alright sounds good, I'll be heading out to holiday around lunch time today to do a little "prefish". Have any tips for a complete rookie? I heard parking is a bit crazy on tourney days. Quote
