SnookOne Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 If you recall, I previously did a post requesting feedback on a spinning rod so I could use different techniques for soft plastics. I made a decision and purchased a G Loomis Mossyback 6'8" spinning rod with a extra fast taper, and took it out today to give it a whirl. It was in the low 70's, and the water temperature was 66 degrees at launch time which was 8:00 a.m., and only rose 2 degrees at 10:00 a.m. I was on the water for four hours, and it drizzled on me for 3 of them! I decided I was going to use the "wacky" rig technique. I rigged up with a 7" Lake Fork Trophy Lures Hyper Worm in watermelon flake, and combined it with a Lake Fork wacky rig and weight system: I began to work the weed lines, and before you knew it, the d**n rig worked: A few casts later, and I caught his twin: I actually thought for a moment that it was the same fish, but a red sore on the belly of the second fish assured me that I actually caught two fish off of the same weed line. I then decided to work the lillies: ...and the rig worked there too: I finally decided to head in, but before I did, I just wanted to hit a sunken tree near the ramp just in case...and what do you know: It was great to get back on the water after a busy holiday work schedule, and the "wacky" rig worked out nicely for me producing larger fish than I normally post...Tight Lines!!! With cutting my hair as short as I do, I also use it to keep the sun off of my head. There is nothing worse than burning your head and or neck... Quote

I look the same way when I fish now. ;D My face can get as a red as a Ketchup bottle even with sunblock. But I do have my pony tail hanging from the cap. All it took was one fish photo with me having a red face, (matched the boat color)and that buff was the top of the list to get. I now wear it faithfully! Quote

I used a Shimano Symetre 2500 with it which I used for tossing light tackle inshore. It worked perfectly, and the rod surprised me with how sensitive the tip was, but at the same time, had enough back bone to drive the hook set...I love that rod! Quote
