Bass XL Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Ok, now I'm not sure if someone has said this before, but I was just messing around with my tackle the other day and I came up with this new senko rig. I havent tried it yet, but I'm betting you will get more hook ups from it. Here's what you do: 1) Take your favorite senko type bait. 2) Get 2 hooks (I used a Gamakatsu Octopus Circle size 2). 3) Put 1 hook on each end of the bait. 4) Tie two seperate lines from each hook: 5) Tie these two lines to a single barrel swivel, and then tie your barrel swivel to your main line: The swivel prevents the lines from twisting. Just thought that I'd share it with you all. Craig Quote
VABasser Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Hmm interesting. It might work in open water, only thing I see is that with two exposed hooks you would hang up a lot more if you were fishing it around cover. Quote
BassinBoy Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 You might get more hook ups, but I dont think it will give you a very good action. Maby a unique one, but probobly not a very good one. Good luck Quote

BassinBoy Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Let me know how you know how you do. When do you think you will get to try it? Quote
Bass XL Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 Let me know how you know how you do. When do you think you will get to try it? Maybe sometime this week. I have a tournament this coming weekend, and I may try it then (prefishing). Quote
Sinjin Kim Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I would just fish it with one hook straight down the middle. Having one hook at the end of the bait will most likely kill the action and get hung more often. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted April 7, 2008 Super User Posted April 7, 2008 Hmm, might be tough to cast two rods at the same time? Quote
Gummybear Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I like the creativity. What if you used one weighted hook in one end and tied it to a fixed point like a split ring. then a regular hook through the other end of the senko and run the main line from the reg. hook through the split ring to the pole. that should give it more action. what do you think guys? Super User burleytog Posted April 7, 2008 Super User Posted April 7, 2008 Why use two lines? Snell the hooks and fish it like a regular two hook nightcrawler rig. Quote
GeneinTX Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Try it, I am waiting to hear the results. My son ( 16 yrs ) tries all kinds of stuff and does well. Rock on.... send the report! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 i'd use a couple smaller offset hooks, and make that thing a 'double weedless rig'.b Not necessary in Lake X,......they rarely make it to the bottom Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 7, 2008 Super User Posted April 7, 2008 You might get more hook ups, but I dont think it will give you a very good action. Will the 2 hooks of equal weight cancel out and make the make fall straight as it usually would but a little faster? :-? Quote

Having one hook at the end of the bait will most likely kill the action and get hung more often. x2 The allure of this kind of rig is the way the ends wiggle and the way the bait makes a U shape when raised back up.When hooked through the middle, that is. I for one am always glad to hear new rigging methods for plastics.Love to play around. The more far out the better. The guy who said rig one end with a weight is on to something, I think.Interesting. Low_Budget_Hooker Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I know it also "works" t-rigged but the design is made that way so both ends can wiggle. IMO, adding anything other than a small wacky hook, dead center, negates some of the action. Quote
Bass XL Posted April 7, 2008 Author Posted April 7, 2008 Glad to hear everyone's input and ideas. I was just messing around and came up with this. I didn't really know what to think, so I posted it here. Quote
EdKras Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 I can see it working better if there is more weight in the middle. maybe a wacky weight? I think Lunker City makes one that would work Quote
