Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 It's cold. It isn't supposed to be this cold in southern Florida. Somebody make this junk go away! The bad part is that it's supposed to get colder.... Quote
I.rar Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 yes it is. im not looking forward to riding my bicycle home from work tonight. > Quote
GLADES Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Ah, come on, it is refreshing! The worst part is that the bass are tucked in deep in the cover. I went out to lox Sunday afternoon and got blanked. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 First time I haven't gone to the ocean in the early morning to fish, won't be for the next day or 2 either. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 Quit whining..... This was Friday. Had about 18" since. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted December 6, 2010 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2010 Being cold didn't stop me from going out for a little bit this morning. Had a fantastic topwater bite from about sunup until 8:30 or so. Spook Jr. for the win! Not looking forward to the supposed 30's in the next day or so though... Quote
piscicidal Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I'm from Minnesota and this stuff is cold to me. It felt like Minnesota when I pulled into Clewiston (south Lake Okeechobee) at 6:00AM Saturday morning and it was 44 degrees. Then, you pull into town and see the all the street lights with their Christmas decorations up... Every decoration is a jumping bass swallowing a dragonfly! A little reminder you're still in Florida! Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted December 6, 2010 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2010 You fished Carmen's tourney? How'd that end up with the colder weather? Quote
piscicidal Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 It was tough. Only two boats weighed more than 12 pounds (often there's a half dozen around 20lbs). Alot of small limits weighed in, including ours. It was fun though...I'll do it again. I learn something new everytime up there. Quote
bocabasser Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 too frickin cold! i fished mm41 yesterday and caught dinks all day. we had a whopping 5.83 pounds. the absolute hilarious thing about that was------we won. big fish was 2.8 pounds and that guy brought home a buckfifty. we got a couple hundred. cannot believe we won. i hate the cold weather. weather channel says tomorrow it will be 40 degrees at 7 am and it feels like 32. are you kidding me? Quote
bocabasser Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Quit whining..... This was Friday. Had about 18" since. no way man. i could not handle that kind of cold. i am wearing thermal underwear today and it is 50. that is insane cold. come on down here jfranco and lets catch 'em up. Quote

Hopefully the wind will die down at least. I can deal with the cold. Just dress appropriately. It's the freakin 20mph winds right now that just suck. I've gotta drop an anchor just to hold my Jon in place right now. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 Just now, coming back from lunch. You guys have it good right now Quote

Fishing Cowgirl Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Just now, coming back from lunch. You guys have it good right now Been there, did that in Wyoming..which is another reason I am back in Florida. (The driving in it part) Humidity makes a BIG difference in how it "feels'.. But I'd rather fish in cold weather here than in the stifling, no breeze, high humidity, 90 degree+, praying to go move locations just to get the breeze, summer here.(I'll fish it even then, but I am out for the count afterwards) Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 6, 2010 Super User Posted December 6, 2010 I'll probably retire in the SE. VA looks really nice to me, so does SC. I don't mind heat and humidity, but hate the cold. I deal with it, heck I even fish in it (was out steelheading with my 11 year old all weekend), but I'd rather be too hot than too cold. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted December 6, 2010 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2010 The only problem you'll have down here is the lack of Smallies. Other than that it's 12 months of solid fishing....with big fish. Quote
piscicidal Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Or do what I do...11 months in Florida, 1 month in Minnesota (go in July when the heat is stifling here). I get my smallie fix taken care of pretty quickly up there. Some fish from one afternoon trip (I have more, can only upload five)... Quote
SoFl-native Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 It was chilly sat morning on osbourne too. I thought the bite would be off. It wasnt. I caught a 6 and a 4 and weighed just under 16. Good for third. 1st had 20 pounds even with a 7. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted December 6, 2010 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2010 Those are some beastly lookin smallies. One of these days I need to make a trip up north to do some fishing. Great fish, Native. Aside from the cold, this is my favorite time of the year to fish. Always catch my best fish of the year around this time. Quote

I have some awesome winter spots on Lake Clarke which is good if you fishing Osburne in a Tournament. Haven't fished them in a while though, but usually pull through in the winter for me. Palm Beach Canal is usually pretty good around water control structures and bridges with Carolina rigged worms and t-rigged if it gets cold. Quote
piscicidal Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Those are some beastly lookin smallies. One of these days I need to make a trip up north to do some fishing. That's my brother and our friend Tim on Lake Mille Lacs. I can just about guarantee a 15-20lb stringer every time out there. It's ridiculous. And those little footballs fight like crazy....more than Peacock, IMO. Almost on par with the saltwater species (Snook, Jack, Redfish). You know you were in a battle after fighting those guys all day. Quote
