Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 Headed out to Lox with Mike earlier today for a couple of hours at the end of the day. Not much in the way of numbers, although we did find some fish towards the end of the day. Almost every fish came on a Dipper. A few came up on Beavers also. Big fish of the day (unsure on weight): Quote
piscicidal Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Glad you could make it today, Eric. Not fast action today for us (15 in 3.5hrs?) but good weather, some decent size fish and one good kicker. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 31, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 31, 2010 Can't complain one bit. The weather was great, caught a few fish, did some BS'n, makes for a good afternoon. Lipping that big fish was just icing on the cake. Gotta love having that place so close to home for both of us. Thanks again. Looking forward to next time. Quote
piscicidal Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Next time one of us needs to remember the scale, though. At 24.5" long and ~17" girth...the calculator puts her right at 10lbs. No way was she double digits (maybe 7-8?), but you always have the chance out there at a 10+. I know of another 8lber caught out there last week, so I think the big girls are starting to go on their pre-spawn feeding binge. Quote
Catching Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Now that is a Nice Florida toad, WTG guys Quote
piscicidal Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Thanks Dan, Shane and Dale. Dan, Eric was throwing your big worms/frogs. I really like those frogs you guys make! Those things are big and tough and throw a pretty good wake! There was not much of a frog bite going on Saturday afternoon, but I really want to give those things a try. Quote
evrgladesbasser Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 That's what it's all about right there! Sweet catch Quote
bocabasser Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 you're right, the big girls are starting to feed hard. every fish that was weighed in on sunday was fat and healthy. are you guys going out this weekend? if so lets connect. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Bruce, I wanted to get out this week, but it doesn't look promising. I'm slammed at work. Maybe an afternoon trip Saturday or Sunday, for me... Quote
SoFl-native Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 pretty decent little cool front coming this weekend. Thursday/friday are looking good. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Hey guys. Anyone make it out to Lox this weekend? Curious if the big fish are still feeding... I'm heading out there tomorrow for an all-day "hawg hunt". I'll post a report.... Quote
bocabasser Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 i was out there yesterday and did surprisingly well. i caught around 20 fish with the biggest at 4.4 pounds. my partner did not catch as many, because he fipped all day and caught a 5.3 and a 3.9. i went through 20 flukes in a 4 hour session. i had to go through a mess of 1-2 pounders before i landed that 4.4. put in at boynton at 8:30 and off the water at 2:30. i thought for sure it was going to be a tough bite-quite the opposite. every fish was super tight to cover. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Went out today. Apparently the cold front hasn't affected the fishing too much. The big girls are still going. Fished from 9:30-6:30. Caught a couple 2-3lb chunks and two good ones: one 5.20 and one 5.87. Probably close to 20lb bag today. Action wasn't fast...caught ~20 in 9 hours, but I was pretty much going for big fish all day (swimbaits, flippin, spooks) Here's the two big ones... Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted November 9, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 9, 2010 Great fish right there, Mike. I love this time of the year down here. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I'm with you, Eric...I really like fishing this time of year. Seems like even on the "bad" days you can get something going. Today...had that nasty cold front...caught most of the fish (12 of 20?) pitchin beavers to tight cover. I dropped another fish off that felt at least as big as the two I caught... Quote
SoFl-native Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Good fish. Planning on hitting lox this weekend. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted November 9, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 9, 2010 If the weather is anything like it was today, it should be absolutely freakin gorgeous out there. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted November 10, 2010 Super User Posted November 10, 2010 Yesterday was gorgeous, cool in the morning, hit a school of jacks in the ICW at first light, in for 2 minutes and gone, nature of that beast. First cast caught a double on a top lure and that was it. Fished bass the later in the day and it was dead until about 4:30, then they turned on, caught a few nice ones. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted November 10, 2010 Super User Posted November 10, 2010 I went out to Lake Osborne yesterday and today (Tues, Wed.) speck fishing. We caught a couple dozen speck and 6 bass using minnows. Osborne was it's typical self, difficult. I've never had such a hard time catching speck :. Anyway, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and there were ZERO skiers. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted November 11, 2010 Super User Posted November 11, 2010 You guys are making me wish jealous , been a hunting fool lately and need to get back on the water for some bass action. Big O should ramping up for a great spawn this year and the refuge is looking great from Mike's reports. I will plan on going next week so if anyone is up for it shoot me a PM. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I don't think I can make it out there this weekend, either. I'm thinking Tuesday/Wednesday next week for me. Now the only question is: Loxahatchee or Okeechobee. Decisions...decisions... :-/ I'll send you a PM, Robert. Quote
piscicidal Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Anyone heading to Lox today? Looks like I'm gonna try and sneak out there this afternoon...maybe 3:00-dusk. Anyone heading out there this afternoon, drop me a PM... Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted November 13, 2010 Super User Posted November 13, 2010 Man, I was going to head out there but couldn't find anyone to go. I fell asleep about 2:30 and just now saw your post. I hope you whacked'em good. Killer evening. Quote
