KR Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Been fishing Briery for couple of weeks with little to no luck. Can any one help? I don't get much time to fish so it is hard to figure out what I'm doing wrong or right. Quote
Super User Micro Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 There is a long running thread in the Southeast section on Briery Creek. Wayne P is the best source of information. His experience was recently profiled in a Virginia Wildlife magazine article on Briery Creek. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 Wayne P is a celebrity. Search him out on this site and read all of his posts. He is a super guy and he knows a lot about fishing central Virginia and bass fishing. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 KR, PM sent I was fishing today, but not there. Quote

Prmetme Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Yeah, I want to plan a fishing trip Briery Creek sometime this month myself. I'm trying to treat my dad (who is mainly a salt water fisherman) and my friend to a good day of some bass fishing but I am serverly lacking in equipment (ie boat and different type of lures), and information (places to fish and what to look out for...). Is there a place where I can rent a jon boat or something or do I have to find one myself? Thanks to anybody who can help and I'm going to try to read up on some information posted by Wayne and others. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 1, 2010 Super User Posted November 1, 2010 Prmetme, there is no boat rental at the lake. PM sent with additional info. Quote
heyitskirby Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Wayne, after the article in Virginia Wildlife my dad took a day off of work to go bank fish there. He caught some nice panfish but don't think he caught any bass. He has since been fired up to go over there. He found a jon boat rental in Farmville...Fred's Boat Rental? Have you heard of this place? Can you rent there and take anywhere you want? Don't want to fool with the bass boat just to use the trolling motor unless its my last resort. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 2, 2010 Super User Posted November 2, 2010 No, I don't know about Fred's boat rental. I don't live in that area. Quote
fishguts Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 He found a jon boat rental in Farmville...Fred's Boat Rental? Have you heard of this place? Can you rent there and take anywhere you want? There are no boat rental facilities in or near Farmville. Sorry. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 8, 2010 Super User Posted November 8, 2010 After some creative searching, I found this listing----it was under Jet Ski Rentals Hampden Sydney Freds Boat Rental, South Route 15 South Rr 15 Box South, Hampden Sydney, (804) 223-1322 Hampden Sydney is between Farmville and the lake. heyitskirby Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Can't think of much else other than Twin Lakes or the App. River that you'd rent to in that area. Guess I need to give them a call. Quote
fishguts Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 After some creative searching, I found this listing----it was under Jet Ski Rentals Hampden Sydney Freds Boat Rental, South Route 15 South Rr 15 Box South, Hampden Sydney, (804) 223-1322 Hampden Sydney is between Farmville and the lake. Judging from the 804 area code, that number is very, very old. The Farmville area has been 434 for many years. I tried the number, it's out of service. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 9, 2010 Super User Posted November 9, 2010 That must have been the place on the East side of Rt. 15 just before the lake entrance at the dam. A small tackle shop/minnow sales and several less-than-new boats in the parking lot. Quote
nice_lunker Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Hi Wayne, I'm going to Briery tomorrow with my father-in-law. This is my first time fishing there. I would appreciate any helpful tips for fishing there this time of year? Thanks! Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted November 24, 2010 Super User Posted November 24, 2010 I missed your question yesterday, I was fishing in that area. Sent a PM this morning. Quote
