I been fishing the warm side at least 5 nights a week and catching plenty of fish. If anyone wants to join me one evening or morning then holla at me. Since my girl had surgery on her hand , I have no one to fish with down here. It's nice to have someone out there with me to share some good times not to mention having someone to take pics of all the fish being caught. I didn't think the bite would be so good till November but I guess I have started to figure out how to catch fish here year round. The bite has been good for the last 3 weeks straight and is getting better with hundreds of schools of threadfin shad all back in the creek and creek arms. The best action is less then a thousand feet from my dock ! Primary lures are a wacky 5 inch senko, silent crankbaits and lucky craft pointers. Also getting a few here and there on buzzbaits, poppers and texas rigs. Also the water temp has dropped over ten degrees in the last two weeks. Its averaging 71 degrees on the surface since the recent cold fronts. Send me a PM if interested.

Would love to fish the hot side with you but work and wife preclude this for happening at this time.

I will PM you about fishing the hot side this winter later today or this evening.  :)

Thanks for the offer!!!

I have a friend from work going with me this Saturday on the public side you are welcome to join us if you would like.

I have fished the private side several times when invited by friends and love being there but I find the public side a lot more challanging.

Elk creek is one of my favorite places over there.

Hey Steve, I would love to join you this winter but my wife is due with our first child in early November.  If I can sneak off for a Saturday or Sunday later this winter I will send you a PM.

As a anna noob who is clueless about the lake other than what I can see on google maps and hearing you guys talk about it, what makes one side warm?  Power plant? Springs?

Is the private side and public side connected or separate?  If you launch on one side, are you allowed to the other?    Do you need an outboard to actually get around, looks rather big...

No need to pollute the stream with explaining to this guy, but if someone wanted to drop me a message or direct me to a website, that would be great.  I just have been looking on maps and reading the official state park site and like 100 real estate sites promising catching the fish of your life if you just take out a mortgage right now...haha.

The "warm" side is on the nuclear power plant side. Cold water is taken into the plant and used to carry heat away from the reactor. The warmed water is then pumped back into the "warm" side. The warm and private side are separated by dams or rip/rap walls. You can't enter one side from the other once on the water. An outboard would be very helpful and probably necessary on most days.

Thanks dan, your the man.  Hit up your dick's for a few deals on some sinking worms, a lipless red eye shad, and another crank that looked too good to pass up.  Figure I'll pop my head in every few weeks and see what deals there are.

Was eye-ing the hummingbird 570 fishfinder pretty hard....not sure if that is the one I want to pull the trigger on though.

I heard of some guides who takes you out on lake Anna.... anyone ever use em?

When did you stop by? Come in and say hey sometime. Just look for me in the Lodge department (camping, camouflage, hunting, guns, fishing)

I believe we have an extra 10% off any clearance fishing rods/reels but I'll have to double check that sale....not that we have many good rods in stock, but whatever :-/

Hey Marc, congrats on your first born child ! I actually logged on today so I could message you and see how you were. Havent been on here in 3 weeks. To answer a few folks, no I am not a pro guide but becoming a guide on the warm side would be rewarding in so many ways not to mention a good way to make extra money. I don't mind takin folks out for free tho , as long as they are serious anglers . I know few ppl get a chance to fish over here. I have had a chance to fish with a few great guys who didnt ask me for a dime and even turned down my money. And yes Nitrofreak, Elk Creek is one creek over from me. Im on millpond which I think is better fishing from my experience. For now, my trolling motor is dead and I need to get up to woodbridge to get it fixed, just havent gotten around to it. Pondering buying a new boat but the house Im buying needs some things like a barn, fence, garage, deck and paved driveway so I have to prioritize.

Yes absolutely. During december we'll be fishing dike one alot. Shakey heads, jerkbaits, carolina rigs with grubs, crankbaits and weighted wacky senkos will be the ticket. I have caught some 4+ pounders during the winter on dike one. Its one of the few times you'll ever see me using an anchor. Just pull up about 50 feet from the rip rap, drop anchor and get ready for some good times. I might even organize a private tournament to coincide with everyone's winter break from college.Send me a message a few weeks before you get back and we'll set it all up.

on a sidenote, be ready to throw nothing but 6 and 8 pound test when u fish over here in the winter. I get alot more bites that way not to mention you make longer casts with the lighter smaller baits that you need to catch the bass on a regular basis. So make sure you got some medium action rods, I even use a medium/lite rod for small crankbaits and jerkbaits. The fight with a 3 pounder on 6 pound test is something else
