Theres a new Dick's Sporting goods that opened up on the SE corner of Flaming and Pines for you local guys in the area.  Not a huge fishing department, but they do have stuff in it not carried by most of the local stores around here.  Large selection of Yamamoto stuff (flapping hogs, ikas, pro senkos, senkos, grubs, etc etc).  They carry Dippers and Beavers, Roboworms.  Tons of spinnerbaits and cranks that you won't find at BPS.  Stanley finesse jigs along with some Strike King jigs that BPS doesn't have.  Power Pro is under 10 bucks for the 150 yard spools.  The 300 yard spools are on sale also.  Plenty of hollow bodied frogs also.  Sure is nice to be able to pick up some of that stuff locally instead of having to order it online.  Theres another one that opened up a bit farther north that Piscicidal checked out.  I'm assuming they carry the same stuff for the most part.

Yeah, they just opened the one in Plantation (at The Fountains). I went there for lunch earlier this week.

Real good selection of hard baits and jigs. They carry Reaction Innovation stuff which is a major plus.

The rod/reel selection is so-so...they carry Shimano/Quantum products, but the rods were lower tier. For example, they had Compre rods in stock but not Crucial...St Croix Legend/Mojo rods, but not Avid....etc...

I'm pumped just to have a place to buy dippers/beavers without having to go thru TW.

The rod selection was a bit disappointing.  I can live with that though.  They do carry a decent selection of reels.  I found some soft plastic colors there that I haven't seen before.  Thats always fun to experiment with different junk.  Like you said, being able to buy RI stuff locally is great.  I wish they had the smaller size beaver though.  The one thing I didn't check was to see if they carried tungsten weights.  I need to stop by there one day and check it out.  I need to restock some of mine.

They're all over up here. There's 4 of them within reasonable driving distance and the fishing departments vary greatly between all of them.

Sign up for the Scorecard and they'll send some nice deals your way.

A friend told me it was going to be a Garmans, I couldn't wait, then he called the other day and said it was a Dicks that he made a mistake.

I'm probably better off, living 5 minutes from BPS does enough damage.

I know the feeling.  The Miami BPS is roughly 10 minutes away from me.  The Dania store is only about 20.  Throw in the Dicks now thats only about five minutes away and I've got problems.  God help me if a Gander or Cabelas ever opens up down here.

Boynton Beach store works well for me, not quite the selection as the WPB store but more than adequate for my basic needs.

I have a Dick's Sporting Goods about 20 min down the road (Davenport, FL),

and a Bass Pro Shop about 50 min away (Orlando, FL).

Nevertheless, all the "walk-in" stores are deathly afraid of overstocking.

To avoid drowning in their own inventory they only stock fast-moving merchandise.

It'd be a cold day in hell before I ride 20 minutes to find that the item I want is out-of-stock.

Everything I could possibly want is available online :)
