MtAiryEd Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I plan on fishing in the Radford area of the New River this coming w/e. I see the river status here: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/va/nwis/uv/?site_no=03171000&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060 I know that to be a bit low. I plan on launching at Riverview Park, just off W.Main Street. I have an outboard jet boat. My questions: Will I be able to go upstream above that first island? If so, is there a prefered side/chute? How far downstream will I be able to go and still make it back upstream to the boat ramp? Thanks a ton. I'm coming from out of town and it's a bit of a haul down to there. My other alternative is the ramp at Whitethorne. If any one can tell me how much water I can roam down there I'd also appreciate it. I know I'm asking for quite a bit. Ed Quote
Carrington Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 i have never fished the new in a boat as i dont like taking my bass boat that shallow but i can give you some suggestions on baits. If you are fishing for smallmouth then id say throw a 3 inch senk or a grub type bait. If you are fishing for largemouth throw the dropshot. Quote
