gar-tracker Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Hows it looking up there Fishindaddy, I heard it muddied up. My buddy asked me to fish a tournament this Saturday. I'm heading up Friday. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted October 20, 2010 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted October 20, 2010 I have not been on Toho in about 3 months. The lock has been closed for repair and I normally put in on Kissimmee. I would fish the frog in the morning and switch to a worm on the outside edge of the submerged hydrilla later in the day. If that doesn't do it, then I would crank a firetiger 8a on the ledges up by Big Toho or the shell bar outside of Shingle Creek. Good luck Rob and let me know how you do. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Hi there, We've been fishing it the last couple saturdays. What we did catch seemed to be all head and skinny body. Last Saturday was (of course after the little cold front) cool, blue bird skies and they weren't hitting much. We managed some on a fluke, weightless. We checked with the Game and Fish biologist who was making his rounds and he said "no one was catching much and what they caught were skinny". We are having a couples tournament this Sunday out of Southport. Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 Thanks all, my buddy lives just off the lake he told me its been rough going. Two clubs fished last week and a total of 16 lb for a 2 day won one, and the other club weighed in next to nothing. That lake muddies up with no rain. Oh well Ill check in later and let you know how I did. Lee when are they opening that lock? Its been closed awhile now? Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted October 22, 2010 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted October 22, 2010 It was closed on May 17 and is scheduled to be closed until Dec 31. If you are prefishing on Friday and get stumped, call me. Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 Well you cant compete without pre fishing. 3 fish for 9lbs couldn't get a limit. 16 lbs won it. To give you an idea how tough it is up there the big fish was 4lb, that's rare at TOHO. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted October 24, 2010 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted October 24, 2010 That's just how it's been lately. The only big fish I have heard of in the past month was a 12 lber out of a private lake in Haines City. It should get better in the next month. How was the clarity, temp, ect? Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 25, 2010 Author Posted October 25, 2010 North was clear, south was a little muddied up, water was cool to the touch, the guy I fished with lives up there but his fish dried up, I talked him into going shallower and we frogged up our fish. I figured the water was a bit warmer and it might have brought them in, I think if we did that from the beginning we would have had a nice limit. We had 3 decent fish. The fish that the winner weighed in were all cookie cutters 3 and change, and white bellied, they looked like open water grass fish. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 It was tough in our couples tournament yesterday. I think the winning weight was 5 fish at 8 lbs and we had exemptions for a minumu of 10". (we have a 3 for the men and 3 for the ladies limit). Some didn't catch but one fish and no one caught a full limit. Kevin and I caught 3. I had the first one on a frog first thing and he had one on a weightless fluke right after. Both were very dark. We wanted to fish outside Shingle Creek on the sheel bed, but a guy in a pontoon boat was there using shiners. The whole time we watched him, he didn't pull up a single bass and he just kept checking to see if he still had shiners on. The third came from the grassy island and my net job saved that one. It had slapped at the bait and when Kevin set the hook, he had it just under the mouth on the outside. Water was about 75 degrees when we finished at noon. Quote

BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted October 26, 2010 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted October 26, 2010 Just busting on you Rob... I hate being in the back seat when I know what would work and the front seat "thinks" he is on fish. With the weather cooling off again this weekend the frog bite should really heat up in the mornings. Quote
