bocabasser Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 fished the rest area tonight from 3 til dark and caught a mess of fish. 20+ pounds five biggest. big worms and giggy caught most, but the bigger fish came on big worms. 5.5 biggest fish. fun session. Quote
salmicropterus Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 It's been good there for sure. The bite seems to get better the later in the day. I've had the most success with a giggyhead. Quote
piscicidal Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 My wife/kids just went to summer home for one month...I plan on hitting the Alley after work the next few weeks, fishing ~5:00 until ?? (whenever the bugs chase me out). I'll be out there Wed/Thurs/Fri night and will post a report. Quote
gar-tracker Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I rarely fish the canals anymore, but when I did the Alley was always my favorite. Iv caught some tremendous sacks of fish out there. Quote
piscicidal Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I fished Miami Canal/Alligator Alley tonight. Total catch about 30, fishing about 3:30 until 9:15. Caught 5 on toads, 2 on cranks and everything else on worms. Got caught in that nasty storm...rode it out under a bridge for about 1.5hrs (got alot of use on my new Carolina rig setup). Fished the last 45 minutes on the Alley throwing horny toads in the pitch black. Caught a couple nice ones that way (~3 pounds). Pretty intense...had a couple monster blowups right next to the boat. They could have been gators for all I know. I couldn't see squat! Anyway...very fun night. A lot of action...no monsters but a half dozen between 2-3pounds. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted July 1, 2010 Super User Posted July 1, 2010 That storm that blew in was nasty. Didnt rain much where I was. I think I was JUST on the southern edge of it. Temp dropped a good 15 degree's in about 20 minutes and the wind was howling where I'm at. I bet it was "fun" out in the Alley. Quote
piscicidal Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 "fun" is one way to describe it... ;D There was a ton of rain where I was. I had to run through it to get to the bridge and it was nasty. After the storm went through, though, it was perfect. It was cool (relatively), not a breath of wind and the fish really started wackin...I caught 4 fish from 3:30-6:00 and about 20 from 6:00- 8:00. piscicidal Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 Went out to the alley tonight: 5:00 - 9:00. Fished with my buddy Jack (handle: shallow thinker). Continual light rain kept the frog bite going all evenking. Caught at least thirty and better than average size. Five biggest ~15pounds. Fun outing...not too hot and a good steady topwater bite. salmicropterus Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 hi i just moved here from california .can you guys give me directions to these place.i live in hollywood. thank you The section of the Miami Canal talked about here is accessible from the ramps on the west side of the rest area on I-75 (Alligator Alley) heading to Naples. It's like mile marker 34/35 or so. From the ramp you can go south about 2 miles to a water control structure and north you go under the bridges and go maybe 10-15 north. It is a great canal area to fish especially when the water level is low. The length of the canal is accessible only by boat although there is some bank fishing by the ramps Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 Just watch out for them gators. Nice area out there. Easy to get to also. Quote
