Super User South FLA Posted June 27, 2010 Super User Posted June 27, 2010 The heat is so oppressive lately, I decided to do a little night time bass fishing with my buddy Brett. Had a great outing landed 30 bass from 11:30-1 A.M. on Horny Toads, Ribbits, and Bronzeye poppers. Majority liked the swimming frogs, but a couple hit the Spro. Brett had an amazing blow-up about 5 feet from the boat and in the excitement he pulled it away too quickly. Bugs were INSANE, but I swear that 3M's Ultrathon and ThermaCell kept them off us! Below is the biggest of the night. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted June 28, 2010 Super User Posted June 28, 2010 I hear you. It's been ridiculously hot lately. Great fish in the picture there. I need to pick up one of those ThermaCell's. My uncle had one out yesterday on his patio when we were doing some work, didn't have a bug near us. I'm heading out offshore tomorrow to drag some baits through the Gulfstream. Hopefully it doesn't get insanely hot like it has been recently. I'm not brave enough to troll around out there at night.... Quote
gar-tracker Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Ultrathon is frigging amazing, I bought some years back when it first came out, they wont even land on you. Quote

Super User South FLA Posted July 7, 2010 Author Super User Posted July 7, 2010 what are the best baits to get the bass going at night i havent had much luk just on dark spinners and nothing of size really I personally like buzz-baits in 1/2 with all black with glow skirts or just all black, swimming frog type baits, Top-water poppers and walkers like the Zara Spook and big BIG black and chart worms fished slowly! Also, I like wearing yellow shooters glasses, never know when you set up on something and that treble hook lure is headed right at your face, insect repellent, long sleeve shirt, and most importantly a night light with regular light and some form of subdued light (green/blue/red), cap lights work great. If you click on my pic in the post you'll see the garb! Quote
