Super User Sam Posted June 13, 2010 Super User Posted June 13, 2010 PSP, Pick up a free copy of the 2010 Fishing in Virginia publication from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries at Walmart or your favorite tackle shop. In the back they list the places to fish in each region. Go to Staples or a bookstore and purchase the ADC mapbook for Metro Richmond. Look for the ponds and lakes in the Richmond/Chesterfield/Henrico/Hanover areas. Get a mapbook of the state of Virginia and look for ponds and lakes. Speak with the guys at Green Top for the ponds on Route 58 west of Ashland. Go to Tackle Express and see if those guys have suggestions. You need to add your location to your avatar so we can give you more specific help. "Central Virginia" encompasses the Richmond over to Charlottesville geographical areas which is a big area. And one last suggestion. If you can find any apartment complexs or office parks with a lake give them a try. Lake Rooty in Innsbrook and Wild Lake off Lauderdale can produce for you. Good luck. Quote

Super User Sam Posted June 15, 2010 Super User Posted June 15, 2010 The ponds are on your left. The white house where you pay the fee to fish the poinds is on your left coming out of Ashland on Route 54. Try Wild Lake and Innsbrook Office Park. Hit Moorefield Office Park off of Midlothian Turnpike and fish the southern most pond. 288 and Lucks Lane - I am going to try that pond as it looks great so you give it a try, too. Pick up that 2010 Fishing in Virginia booklet (free) at Tackle Express and check out the places to fish in our geographical region. Go to Barnes & Noble or Staples and thumb through the pages to the ADC Mapbook of Metropolitan Richmond. Look at the lakes and ponds. Go on-line after viewing the places to fish in the 2010 Fishing in Virginia publication to find the places and get directions. The Powhatan ponds are a place to try your luck, too. Do your research and give the places a try. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 15, 2010 Super User Posted June 15, 2010 Oops. It is too early to be up. Make a mistake. The ponds out of Ashland are on the left; the house is on the RIGHT. Exit I-95 at exit 92 and go through the town of Ashland. Keep going about three miles or so and you will see the ponds and white house. Go on Google Earth and follow the highway and you will see the ponds. Always tell your parents where you will be going as some of the terrain can be rough. Be sure to take a cell phone with you along with a pair of needle nose pliers and a fingernail trimmer. You really need to get that 2010 Fishing in Virginia publication and view all of the places suggested, especially all of the ponds and lakes in Henrico County. Quote
Tallent88 Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 I've been to that pond and fished it hard a couple times nothing bigger than a pound caught bunch of small bass. If you go let me know the outcome sam Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 16, 2010 Super User Posted June 16, 2010 If you want a lunker you need to go to Briery Creek Lake. Or a private farm pond. Or travel to Holston Lake and other places that hold lunkers. If you want to have fun and a challenge, get the ADC mapbook of the Metro Richmond and start fishing the various places you see without 1) betting thrown out or 2) arrested. I am going to fish two private ponds with some beauties in them but they are by invite, only. Check out Patriot's Landing off Route 60 in Bottoms Bridge. There are some big ones in that pond. Quote
Tallent88 Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 i caught a lunker a month ago at a private pond it was 7.6 i just feel like im cheating in a pond that people can go to with minnows and catch the same fish with no effort !!! but its always fun!!!! but its even better when you get on big fish somewhere big fish aren't pulled from ofter !!!!!
