Super User South FLA Posted June 18, 2010 Super User Posted June 18, 2010 Went out yesterday morning with my buddy Dave out of Okee-tantie marina. Arrived a bit late at the fishing spot (South of Kissimmee River) around 6:45, but it did not matter the bite was on. I started out throwing horny toads with consistent results and my partner was throwing a fluke with hit and miss results, but as the morning progressed the tables turned as expected. Around 9:00 we headed out to the outside weed edge and slayed them on rattle traps, before the heat made us both call around 9:45. Total count was between 40-50 fish with 4 over 4lbs. The largest came on a spro cast deep into the outside weed edge. Side note: The SHELLCRACKERS are on BEDS, found about 10-20 bedding areas that were loaded with HUGE bream. So for you bream fishermen fishing the lake be on the lookout. I may even go out next week to target them myself ;D Quote
GLADES Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Sounds like you guys had a great time there at OT. Those big bream and shell crackers would be a lot of fun being caught with a fly rod, or a light weight combo and beetle spin. I am not familiar with Okee-tantie, never fished out of that marina. I know where it is located though. It is a bit longer of a drive from where I live, but I will give that place a visit soon. I hope the fishing holds out until the 7/4 weekend, I got some time off for a road trip. Thanks for the report. Quote
piscicidal Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I am planning on going out of Okee-Tantie, Wednesday. Forecast right now says 15-20mph east winds. If that remains the same, I might change plans (Alligator Alley or Lox). Quote
bocabasser Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 i was on the lake yesterday and caught around 30 fish. there were 3 of us on my boat. started out near ritta and caught a couple. went to turners cove and caught some small ones. ended up at the monkey box and caught our biggest fish there--a five pounder. took the seven mile ditch back to the rim canal and headed back towards slims and got caught in the heaviest rain/lightning storm ever. i never prayed so many times in one day in my life. lightning was popping everywhere. made it back to slims soaked and safe. It was a two day tournament. 1st day 19.30 with second big fish 6.28 2nd day 25.2 with big fish 7.1/2 ( pictured left) 1st place & big fish Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Wow! Nice fish! Congrats again on your win and it was great meeting you. This weekend was the first time I fished it and never had so much fun catching fish. I was very happy with my 15th place finish, for not knowing the lake, catching my limit in the first 2 hours, doubling up on a lure not 2, but 3X. Third time the largest fish shook loose taking the rear teble hook with it. Plus I caught a 4lb catfish on a crank bait. So I had several firsts to take away as a great memory. 8-) Great times, great people and awesome lake. I'll be back! Quote

I'll be back! nice job cowgirl. i saw a fella who had 18 pounds and he was fishing the same tourny as you. what was the winning weight? Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Here are the final results. I was boat 9 and gar-tracker was boat 34 with the winning weight of 44.07. Quote
bocabasser Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 WOW!!! gar tracker stroked them. i didn't realize he fished the same tourny. the lake is definitely hot. i have a tourny saturday out of clewiston. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 here are a few more photos from the tournament. (Ex CSI-got camera-got to take photos) One photo is from the second time I doubled up on a lure no bigger than my thumb. I guess these two were used to sharing their meal. ;D However, I am glad I stocked extra ice and "Please Release" for the livewell. It was super hot out and we alternated the livewell to recirc and added ice through out the day to keep the fish comfy. They were quite lively at weighin, for having been in there for nearly 9 hours. piscicidal Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I fished the NW side this morning. I did well early. Caught ~a dozen before 8:00. Two three pounders and the rest smaller. Bite slowed for me after 8:00. I went out to the outer grass edge later but didn't do much out there (two little ones in ~1.5hrs). Big waves and dirty water. Packed it up about 11:00, catching probably 20 fish. Big thanks to Robert (South Fla) for the tip...I owe ya, bro! EDIT: Congrats gar tracker! 22 pound average is awesome! WOW Quote
Super User South FLA Posted June 24, 2010 Author Super User Posted June 24, 2010 Went out today and did well, bite slowed down after 9 as usual and made a few cast on outside weedline for schoolers with some success, wind chopped up lake pretty good, made if fun running on the outside, felt like I was on a JET SKI! Caught about 25 fish, missed a big'un on a Spro in the slop, here a couple of the nicer ones I caught: Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted June 24, 2010 Super User Posted June 24, 2010 Nice fish, lose the FSU cap. x2 I may have to sneak up there and toss a UM sticker on your car windshield or something. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted June 25, 2010 Author Super User Posted June 25, 2010 Nice fish, lose the FSU cap. x2 I may have to sneak up there and toss a UM sticker on your car windshield or something. Yeah, its been a rough time for me for some years now, but we have Jimbo now and he seems to be righting the ship. I know UM has won 2 of last 3, but I know, and everyone with some football sense knows ;D, Ponder is better than Jacory! As for Gator fans they still have a great team and should be in the hunt, but I see Brantley as a so-so talent. What happen to y'all in baseball and basketball this past season? Thought so! FSU will need some time to get back to winning shape before they skewer ibis and eat gator tail for lunch. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted June 25, 2010 Super User Posted June 25, 2010 Ponder better than Jacory? Umm...naaaa. I'd rather have Jacory. This year it's win the ACC or it's a failure. They've been very steadily improving. BACK TO THE ORANGE BOWL!!! C...A...N...E...S CANES!!!! The Gators? Hell with them and their legions of bandwagon fans. Tebow's gone, back to being irrelevant for the Gators. Quote
