bigbasskiller Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Just got my first boat and eager to get out on the water. Looking for some tips on good areas to go and how the fishing is going. Got a 14' jon boat and ready to go. Last year went to Fountain Head, Burke Lake and Motts Run Reservoir in Fredricksburg. Went out probably 6-7 times last summer with below ave results and even got skunked a couple times. I'll try to post on here from time to time on my luck and look forward to reading postings from other local fisherman. Take care, Bigbasskiller Quote

Come on man, you can't just throw out there that you caught a couple 6+ pound bass at Burke without showing pics...Any time someone does this i consider it a crime. Maybe they weren't really 6 pounds... : Some of us have finals and live through proxy from others achievements at this time so help a brother out. Quote

bigbasshunter Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Here are just some from this year, a buddy of mine has alot more on his camera. These were all weighed on a mechanical scale that was calibrated at 2,4,6,8 lbs +-<1oz. The big girl 6/2 took a human size pee during pictures. Most came off plastics but the 5/1 which took a 3/8oz white wedge in about 8 foot of water. Pics 1-5 = 4lb14oz,5lb1oz,5lb11oz,6lb2oz,6lb6oz Quote
Super User Dan: Posted April 18, 2010 Super User Posted April 18, 2010 those last two look believable, but the first three are definitely not 4-5lbers. The last two are very nice fish. Quote
NewAngler Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 those last two look believable, but the first three are definitely not 4-5lbers. The last two are very nice fish. Agreed. That first one is definitely in the 2 lb range. The fact you feel the need to say you had you scale calibrated makes your story and pictures more suspect. Last two are nice though. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 18, 2010 Super User Posted April 18, 2010 You need a new scale. None of those fish are the advertised weight. : Quote
Bigs Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 You need a new scale. None of those fish are the advertised weight. : very true. None of those are even close. The biggest ones are probably between 3-4.5 pounds at most. Smallest one is around a pound and a half tops Quote
A.Do? Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Nice fish! I still haven't been able to pull a bass from burke so mad props to you! Quote
shimmy Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 You need a new scale. None of those fish are the advertised weight. : Those last two look like they could be over 4.5. The third to last saying it was 5.11 lb, kinda sums up the shannannigans. I'm not sayin your a liar, just saying your scale is very broken and you might have rounded up a few pounds on everyone of them. It actually is kinda comical now that i look at the weights you gave each of them. This is why i just can not stand when someone throws out 6+ pound bass without evidence. Anyone can do that and it takes away from those here who catch big fish. Nevertheless, i'd take the last two 4 pounders any day. Good fishin Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 18, 2010 Super User Posted April 18, 2010 Most ridiculous claims I've seen in a long time. Your 4-14 compared with my 4-3: For reference....these are what a 6+ LMB looks like: You could actually be dealing with a "bad scale," but I find posts like this disgraceful, and a real insult to guys out there actually catching trophy bass. The 4-14 claim above is nearly inexcusable, and totally unrealistic. I don't generally get into these weight posts, but this one takes the cake. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted April 18, 2010 Super User Posted April 18, 2010 I just said something so he is aware of the inaccuracy. Now he will probably get an electronic scale and get better at judging fish by eye and not look like he doesn't know what he's talking about later on. Quote

I enjoy lookin at them, we just are clownin on the exaggeration, that's all. And if you keep postin with that same scale, it will provide me a good laugh during my studies.
