Super User Sam Posted August 21, 2008 Super User Posted August 21, 2008 Are you allowed to fish Lake Manassas? If so, is it "shore only" or can you take your boat and use the trolling motor? Are there set hours to fish? Is the area patrolled and if so, by what law enforcement agency? Just wondering. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 21, 2008 Super User Posted August 21, 2008 As far as I have been told, you cannot fish Lake Manassas, even if you are a resident there. Quote
flippin4it. Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 The water period is off limits. It belongs to the city of Manassas and they are unwilling to talk about the matter at all. I know a couple of guys that ignored this and paid for it! Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Is this the lake been closed since 9/11? Quote
JShrock07 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Sam, I was looking over this thread so I called City of Manassas Division of Water Utilities at 703-257-8380, I spoke to whoever answered the phone and they told me that you are able to fish from the shore only if you know someone that owns land out there. The lady also stated that NO ONE is aloud to put any craft of any type on the lake. -Nitroman Quote
Trevor in Burke Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 be that as it may, they're both still unaccesible for reguler folk like us, must be nice to have the hook up! 8-) Quote
71Rig Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I believe if you have a Ralph Lauren shirt and Burbury trousers with argyle socks on you can fish from the golf course side. But you might have to park the Beemer or Lexus on the side of the road and not use the Valet. Oh, don't forget to color coordinate your baits to your outfit. Wouldn't want to clash out there. Quote

Super User Sam Posted August 22, 2008 Author Super User Posted August 22, 2008 71Rig, Do you think we can sneak on the golf course on the day the course is closed, like a Monday evening? Just wondering, although I would NEVER do such a thing. ;D Quote

Just wondering, although I would NEVER do such a thing. ;D Unless we dress as mentioned above I think the neighbors will see us as they tip back their martinis on the air conditioned decks as they toss another roll of 100's on the firepit. If you are able to sneak on to Robert Jones Trent Golf course you are a more sneakier gent then I. I think caddying for Tiger Woods, or Vijay Singh might be your best shot. Maybe put a two piece flipping stick under the 1 wood cover? Quote
flippin4it. Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I plan on "pulling a Rambo" sometime soon. This includes putting a boat in the water. It will be at night. I have mastered trespassing! Quote

Super User Sam Posted August 23, 2008 Author Super User Posted August 23, 2008 One would think that this body of water would hold some nice size LMB. Without any fishing pressure, other than discarded martini's and scotch into the lake, I bet we could go there and have a great time. Maybe I will call on the golf course and if I get them as a client tell them that I need to fish the pond to check the water. This ploy has worked before. When anyone fishes it please let us know how you do. And what the fine is, too. ;D Quote

Sam, I'm sure flippin4it will find out before we do ;D I'm not going to sound like the hardcore cop on here but I do not think it is a good idea to trespass to fish. I think it is a terrible idea that will land you in jail. And trust me I know I am a deputy and we arrest people for this all the time. I'm just trying to help you out. -Nitroman Quote
Super User Dan: Posted August 23, 2008 Super User Posted August 23, 2008 Nitro, where are you a deputy? I am very seriously contemplating pursuing a career in LE and I might have some questions for you. Quote
flippin4it. Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Here is my deal, my best friend knows a guy that lives on the lake and he has granted me permission to fish/launch a boat from his land in the dark. We called him today and I'm meeting with him next weekend...........I have a strange feeling I will have my boat in tow and be wearing dark clothing........I love to throw a big c-rig in the dark.
