bocabasser Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 we had our club tourny at lake o on saturday. being that it is summer we choose to only have a 3 fish limit and we changed our times from safe light to 3 to 10 to 7. my partner and i went north and crushed them. we caught over 100 fish and ended the day with a 3 fish weight of 13.39. we had a 6, 4, and a 3 pounder. we thought we had a good shot of winning, but another team came in with a whopping 17.79 pounds, 3 fish. they had a 7, 6, and a 4. we ended up in second. every fish we caught was on a lipless crank. there were at least 20 boats that were either in the same area or came and left, and every one of them were pitching or using a slow presentation. i still can't believe that nobody swithed over to a lipless, because all of thse boats saw my partner and i whackin 'em. lucky for us i guess. most of the fish were caught on the outside grass lines. the bigger ones were caught in wind blown entrances. the lake is hot! Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Thanks, I will be sure to have a lipless crank on for the FLPG tournament this weekend. Congrats on the 2nd place finish. It's from safe light to 3 and I am kinda dreading about how hot it's going to be. <pulling out my big, floppy sun hat> Quote
Super User South FLA Posted June 14, 2010 Super User Posted June 14, 2010 Sounds awesome! I may change my plans and go out of Okee Tantie this week instead of Lox. Are you fishing the Big O at all this week? Quote
BANDITBASSER Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I think it's great that your club goes to a 3 fish tournament this time of year and I will be fishing the same tournament this weekend Quote
SoFl-native Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I fished the lake saturday. I caught a 5.1 on a buzz bait at like 6:45. I ended up flipping later and caught good quality. Caught a couple 4's too. 17 lbs with 3 fish is crazy. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Question: On the NE side of the lake, there used to be an area nick named "Radio Tower" because of a radio tower of shore. Does this area still exist after the hurricanes? I can't find it on the map and hubby hasn't been in the area for years beffore the hurricanes. We are checking in Thursday at the host hotel and try to get a little pre-fishing in on Friday. Quote

I only ask because there is a tower of some sort on the dike right near the J&S lock. you can see it from a pretty good distance. Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I think thats the one. We weren't sure if the hurricanes took it out or not, Thank you very much. Quote
