Do we have any sluggo fans here? I know it was one of the first soft jerkbaits. How do you guys like them compared to, say, flukes and the like.

I love them, still fish them, and think they are better than the flukes and other soft plastic jerkbaits.  Only problem is they are hard to find.

I'm a huge sluggo fan...it was the first thing I purchased when I got back into fishing in '04.  My favorite color is watermelon/pearl.  The Sluggo has the best action of any soft jerkbait when twitched.  It doesn't have the Senko wiggle when falling, but both have there place.   The Sluggo isn't made for dead sticking.  If you plan on working your soft plastic jerkbait...you can't go wrong with a Sluggo.

A go to striper bait before it hit the freshwater scene but if you don't like the fluke as compared to a bass assasin (essentially the same action IMO) than I doubt you'll like the sluggo or the Fin-S

They can still be bought in large quantities at lunkercity.com.

I think they are a great C-Rig option.  Not good for deadsticking?  Maybe, but I've caught quite a few bass deadsticking 4" slug-go's on deep weedbeds.  They are a great, very versatile bait.

I will admit that I've taken more liking to the 4" and 5 3/4" Fin S Fish now though.  Still have a bunch of Slug-Go's and still use them.  My favorite color is Rainbow Trout or Silver Pepper Shiner.

imo, the sluggo ss was a better fishgetter than the original sluggo.

a killer, wacky-rigged.

The SS has more salt so it sinks faster and casts farther. I like both.

most I use the Zoom Super Fluke, but if you want to skip your lue under docks, across lily pads etc. then dig out a sluggo

I love both lures. Soft jerks (senkos included) are the best bass lure to use most of the time in clear water. Just too realistic for even big and pressured bass to pass up.

I still use them now and then, but I use flukes more now.

Slug-Go is the only soft jerkbait I use. BPS carries them.

I swore the more salt the slower it sinks

Similar to the ocean where things will float or suspend but, in fresh water it will sink or fall faster....

without salt, would a senko float? or suspend?

I use bubble gum sluggos in the spring for schoolie stripers and catch an occasional smallmouth in the CT river

Big fan of the Slug-Go!  Consistently catches me better quality fish than Super Flukes or Bass Assassin-type lures.

Sluggo's used to be all I used. Probably caught more fish on that bait than any other. Now they share time with Strike Kings Z-Too and Tiki Stick depending on depth and condition. I bought abought 500 bags of them in shad type colors so hopefully I won't run out.

Yeah I need to get some sluggos, no doubt. I know a guy who nails big trout in the rivers and mountain lakes on them as well.
