Bear Creek State Park (VA)

Heading out to Bear Creek this coming weekend and was looking for any advice as this is the first time ever fishing it. Spending all saturday and most of sunday fishing it so I have time to try different patterns but just was looking for places to concentrate the bulk of my fishing.

Yea, it's the one in Cumberland, I going on a camping trip with my church.

bear creek is ok but if you can go to winston, arrowhead or oak hill down the road their i think you will have alot better luck. ive fished that lake since i was little and alot of people at bear creek keep EVERYTHING they catch. same goes for the other lakes too but ive had alot better luck at those. as far as if your shore fishing walk around the trail on the other side of the beach(were the canoes are)  area it goes around the lake to some spots that might be a lil better. if your staying in the cabins id stick to fishing that side of the lake. but good luck. id say throw some senkos and flukes and have some fun.

you ought to give powhatan lakes a try...not far from where your going and a lil better fishing! good luck!
