Went out the other day to a local pond and pulled this 6+ out of a small creek running off the bond. The creek was no longer than 50ft long 5ft wide and about 3ft deep. Not sure how it stayed down there, but when I went to release him I put him in the lake in hopes of a better survival. Hooked on mini-ultralite with a small minnow bait made for a fun fight.

that looks like wilde lake, you caught him in that creek that is there after the spillway?

Yes it's Wilde Lake, and if you follow the spillway to the bottom and follow the path that appears at the bottom of it and follow that for a couple hundred feet back it opens up slightly where there are tons of bream and a few bass.  Usually nothing of size though.

Carrington, I think all it was, was a fish that got knocked over the spillway or some kid thought it would be funny to put back in the creek.  Regardless, he is now out in the lake along with the many other ones of size.

Went to wilde lake today for the first time and caught 5 fish, also lost one that was probally around 3ish. Only fished an hour all came on jig and one on the good ole senko. Do you walk around the lake even the sides with the houses on it? Does anyone tend to say much for you fishing it? Also saw a dead bass that was at least 5 pounds in a cove.

I usually work the side between the spillway and the dock with an american flag on it. I usually do not fish the land with houses on it but will walk accross to get to the amercian flag dock. I find it good fishing though, pulled out a 9+ a couple years back but it certainly has fish.  I usually will put in my yak and fish the deep side of the lake (by the spillway about 10-15ft)  the other end is very shallow in comparison (1-4ft with some spots towards the middle going about 8ft)

Yeah I would love to meet you out there sometime! Ill let you know next time I'm headed out

Let us know how you do out there, and if you ever looking for a partner, PM me. I live no more than 5min from the lake. There are several other decent ones in the area, but you must know someone to fish them.

I've had a fair amount of success recently around the area.  Only caught a dink at Wilde the other night, but have had a lot of success at Innsbrook this week with a shallow crankbait.

Wow.  I haven't thought about that place in a while.  I grew up out there and used to fish that lake in high school.  6 years ago a friend and i walked down that creek into the woods and saw many of bass in that creek so they have been in there for a while.  I don't know if there is anymore tho,  the habitat of these suburban creeks change pretty frequently.

The creeks and lakes in the neighborhood are very much affected by the development in Short Pump and fishing is becoming much harder in the lakes

Nice fish!

It's always more fun to catch nice fish from small waters and from places that you aren't "supposed" to catch big fish....adds to the adventure!

Congrats...he was literally the BIG fish in his own little "pond" :)
