Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 6, 2010 Super User Posted May 6, 2010 Getting ready to fish the Kerr 3rd weekend in july, They are having a lake fest that weekend and want to do a little bass fishing while i'm there anyone know any good spots and a little insite as to what too watch out for? Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 6, 2010 Super User Posted May 6, 2010 1. Where are you putting in? 2. Call and find out the water level. 300 is normal pool. You want the water to be at least 300. 303 and above means the water is in the bushes which is good. 434/738.6371, ext. 275. 3. Try these two sites for current information: http://www.carolinaoutdoors.net/kerrinfopage.html http://www.kerrlake.info/fishing/index.htm It all depends where you put in on Kerr. Southern part is different from northern section. Good luck. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 7, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 7, 2010 Sam not sure where but its going to be somewhere close to the new bridge the way I understand it. Im going down with some friends from work and I have been looking at some sattilite photos of some interesting coves and points and havent gotten a map yet. So far I really like what I see, It doesnt look like I will need to travel too far from there to have some fun !! Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 8, 2010 Super User Posted May 8, 2010 Clarksville area has the new bridges. Check out Bobcat's tackle shop while you are there. Look them up on the internet and go by. Loaded with stuff. If you are putting in around Clarksville, let me know. I am sure Wayne P. has some good information for you, too. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 8, 2010 Super User Posted May 8, 2010 3rd week in July on Kerr? You'll have a couple hours (maybe), real early on a topwater bite, then it's on to the big worms, jigs and deep crankbaits. Around about noon you'll be looking for some shade somewhere.....and good luck with that. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 10, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 10, 2010 Thanks guys, I'm really getting excited about this trip I've never been there before but I have not heard of one bad trip yet. Sam, not sure yet about clarksville or if it's gonna be the state park but with all of the boats that are going to be there that evening the way i understand it's gonna be a long wait to get off the water we are supposed to watch the fireworks from the boat and I am trying to decide where the better place would be to load after that. And I have been told about that place from a couple of different people I know as well, It must be a cool place to go so I am definitely going in for a look see. fivebasslimit, Thanks, The way the weather is as of now I may not be looking for shade I think I will be looking for a coat!! lol. Super User 5bass Posted May 10, 2010 Super User Posted May 10, 2010 I wouldn't worry too much about traffic at the Occoneechee State Park ramp (across the bridge from Clarksville). The main ramp is 4 or 5 wide and there's another 2-wide ramp about 150 yards down the bank. As long as there are competent people backing and trailering, there is not much, if any back-up. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted May 10, 2010 Author Super User Posted May 10, 2010 Thanks, 5basslimit That's most likely where I will go then. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted May 12, 2010 Super User Posted May 12, 2010 Or you could go to the Bluestone ramp. It's small but it works. It's only a couple miles up the road from Occoneechee...just come across the bridge from Clarksville and take a left at the store and stay straight. Quote
