i fish po' boys bass club....we have about 50 members or so...i think we had 20 boats in that one....you look familier, do you fish glenn spring much?

Sure do.  I try to get out there about 3 times a week.  Been catching some good'uns early this year in Feb and March, but it's slacked off some as far as quality here in April.  Caught a bunch of 4-6 lber's back then.  Our best bag was 23 lbs and we had a 21 lb bag 2 days after that in March.  Numbers are there, but quality has diminished.  I'll be there Friday.  Taking RonDef from here on bassresource out for a day.

That's what I thought it was.  Guys in our club had talked about going and fishing it.  My buddy used to fish Poboy's years ago.

awsome...its a good club...it went private after the beech tourny...sothing to do with locals coming in and taking our money...haha....i havent been out there to glenn springs since feb...we moved, i used to live in munford so i was out there everyday...  my best days was last wenter...i woulde go over balls of shad that were so big my depth finder screen would just go black....i would just drift through them with a strata spoon or dropshot and it would be one after another...my best bag woulda been pushing 30...but of course...not a tourney and not a partner with me to witness...we have our next tourny launching from perryville on the 15-16th of may..im trying to decide to stay close or head up towards new johnsonville...i won one up there last year, but it was in early march. you have any suggestions

Man, that's awesome.  I've never fished it much in the winter, but I know guys that have and have done well.  I'd love to hit it in the winter sometime.  I'll look for ya out there.  I'll just be in a plain aluminum bass tracker with 2 guys in the boat with me on Friday.

As far as Kentucky Lake goes, I've never fished down that way.  We always put in up near Paris Landing and we usually fish down to Lick Creek and maybe the Danville bridge, but stay in the general area of Paris Landing.

I'm assuming that Beech Lake is in the general area of Beech Mountain, right?  My parents go up there every year to a house a family friend built on the mountain.  They keep telling me about people they see on the lake trolling with big downriggers and what not.  Do you guys know what the heck they're looking for?  Catfish?

I may have to actually have to go up there one year to do some fishing on that lake.  I'm guessing you guys have smallies up there.  I've always wanted to try and catch a few of those.

well...i dont thgink theres any mountains around there...its in lexington,tn id say about 15-20 mins out of jackson,tn...great fishing...not much cover really, but some very nice fish

tn basstracker...what club do you fish in...are yall private or open?

Posted

Definitely ain't any mountains around this Beech Lake.  Bout as flatland as you can get!

I'm in RiverCity Bassmasters.  We're private, but anyone is welcome to join.  We aren't quite as big as you guys.  We usually avg 12 boats per tourney.

Lol. Yeah, Chuck is a good guy. He was my boater in a tourney on Pickwick last year. Neal isn't in the club anymore. This is my 4th year in the club and he got out the year I started. From what I hear, not many cared for him very much. I don't personally know him, so I don't know.  Actually Chuck and his partner beat us out on the 2nd day of our 2 day tourney at Kentucky Lake this past weekend.  They took 1st place for day 2 with a 16.10 bag.  We had 15 lbs., but we did sneak big fish away from em cuz I had a 5.10 and they had a 5.00.

I'll have to ask some of the old timers bout Grenada!

I've fished beech lake a couple of times but mostly only go there to wakeboard.  A month from now there will be too many recreational boats out unless you fish early.

haha...chucks a good man....neal i do believe was a dooche....he thought he was vandam, yet never brought anything to weigh-in....  well, we were fisging a 2 day tourney and after day 1 thaey all went to some honky tonk and got me trashed.....it was bad...haha...i seen chuck not to long ago andtold him id like to fish with yall agian....are yall meeting still at the comedy club place at bass pros parking lot?

Posted

Yeah, ol Chuck and Jack snuck day 2 away from us by a pound, but we got em back on big fish.

No, we don't meet there anymore.  We meet at Cajun Catfish Company restaurant on Sycamore View the 1st Tuesday of every month.

Well then.  I guess it's a different place.  Lol.  Funny part is they've always told me they drive to TN for some of the stuff they go to.  Guess I'm thinking of a totally different area.  Bummer.

Getting better and better.  It's also getting hotter and hotter.  Water temps were at 80.x today.  Gotta keep lots of water handy.

I fish Beech lake too.  The one in Lexington, not the one in Montana ;-)

I've just been learning the lake the last couple of years, and trying to get up to KY Lake more often.  Launch out of Harmons usually, but looking to learn some new areas.  Only problem is the drive, as I'm in Jackson and it eats up a bunch of time!   The other thing is my young kids are starting to get into it, so I need to work on finding some closer places to fish other than Lake Graham, which frustrates me to no end.
