Hey new to the forums and didnt see any information for Beaverdam Creek Reservoir.  ive been going up there for the past 3 weeks or so with a friend and have caught some decent size LMB all 1lbs-4.5lbs.  All were caught in the coves around the lake using cranks and spinner baits with Colorado blades in less then 7 feet of water.  Last week the water temp on the north end was 56 degrees and 62 on the south end, after the warm weekend and rain im sure the spawn is going to start soon we havent seen any evidence of it yet though...other then some fat bellys on the fish we've caught.  ill get some pictures up soon.

we've also been going up to ashburn village to the main lake where there sports pavilion is located, caught a ton of small LMB nothing over 1.5lbs but there are def some monsters in there.  i was reading there forum pacemakerfishing and there spawn has started but some of the beds are hard to see due to algae

its kind of a drive from centreville/fairfax but both spots are def worth checking out!

Thanks for the report. I used to go to Beaverdam all the time when i was a kid. I learned all about fishing there.  Then we'd go jumping off the catwalk in my highschool days, and i did a bit of fishing there about 2 years back. It was very low the times I went, but we did have pretty good luck. Might have to head back there and check it out.

I went to Broad Run High school, so I've been going  to Ashburn village lakes for many years now, there are 5 total i think, which are loaded with big fish, but a canoe/small boat would do wonders. Anyways, lets see some pics!  :)

yea the water level was extremely low last fall/winter so my friend went around the whole thing with his garmin and marked just about every rock feature, road bed, log feature, brick structure etc...so we just head to those spots when we go out...its been fun the past couple weeks the water level has def come up since then and its probably risen a foot or 2 over the past month but is still pretty low.

When end do you access the the resevoir from?

I went there yesterday and got skunked but my friend caught a 1lb 8oz one in the cove to the right of resevoir rd.

That place has not been kind to me.  0 for 3 trips for me.  Maybe I stink but seems like white spinenrs are the only thing that works there.

We tried fishing at the dam and got no bites what so ever.  My friend is much better fishermen than me and he got nothing.

Any tips would help. I need to catch something to save face  :'(

Another Virginian on the site.  Outstanding!

Keep posting those reports and asking your questions.

And be sure to read, read and read some more.

As for Hokie DJ, the UVA and LSU guys are nailing the fish right and left. Do you think it is because you are a Hokie and not a Cavalier or a Fighting Tiger or a Volunteer or a Tarheel? ;D

P.S.  Just kidding - could not help myself.

if you pull up google maps

you can park at the end of Corro Place theres a path that leads to the north point/dam

at the end of Mt Hope Road thats where people drop there boats theres a white church no gas motors though

you can take belmont ridge road make a right onto ryan road then a right onto evergreen mills then a right onto resevoir road which is dirt..and kinda messed up

all 3 spots are nice had the most luck in the coves in the middle and south

could i drop a jon boat in there at the end of mt hope road? and anywhere to leave my trailer and jeep while i'm fishing? thanks. tight lines

I've seen a Jon boat in there before but you'll have to carry it to the Resevoir.  I don't believe there's any launching places I've seen from Mt Hope or the other side.  Mt Hope has a bigger parking spot so you should be able to fit it there.

no, public...

No, I just checked to make sure. Only residents of Ashburn Village and their guests are allowed to fish there and the resident has to be there with you and has to have a fishing license and recreation ID card from Ashburn Village.

Just figured I'd make sure. I've heard stories of people being kicked out and I figure there problem wouldn't be problems fishing there most times but I don't want to drive all the way out there with the chance I'll be kicked out.

I typically fished for stipers in the Bay, but living out in Ashburn now, I am hitting the ponds and want to try the Beaverdam and Goose Creek water.  I have noticed the fish are bedding in the Ashburn ponds.  Heading to Dick's now to find some baits that work well for bedding bass but don't collect the weeds.  The ponds are loaded with weeds this year.  Anyone try to float tube or kayak Beaverdam?  I think that might work but wanted to check out this forum first.  Thanks

During our last outing to Beaverdam there were multiple people out in kayaks, and I was in a canoe, it required some extra effort, but it is a good way to get around out there.

Make sure you have a PFD, the game wardens like to ticket there.  I have gotten a ticket and seen many being written out.

Went to Beaverdam yesterday after work for one hour. I fished the shoreline and was totally skunked. >:(

Fish were jumping everywhere, and I couldn't even get a bite.  :-?
