Macon, GA fishing

Just moved down to macon and have tried fishing aroaund some.  Tried to fish mostly Lake Houstan in Houstan county and the Flat Creek PFA.  Also considering checking out Lake Juliette, Tobesofkee, Blackshear, and the Ocmulgee River.  Never really fished any of these before and wonder if anyone has any advice?

I live near Macon and have fished all the waters you mentioned, with the exception of Houston Lake. Lake Tobesofkee is a tough place for me. Blackshear is one of those places that really looks fishy... with a bunch of grass and Cypress trees, but I have only really had one good outing on that lake. Lake Juliette is a nice lake, Wildwood looks good from afar(never fished it), and the further down stream you go on the Ocmulgee River the better it fishes. There are also a couple of Public Fishing Areas (PFA's) besides Flat Creek in the area. Hugh Gillis PFA in the Dublin area and Ocmulgee PFA near Hawkinsville, the later has been groomed as a trophy lake. You can also try Lake Joy in Warner Robins/Perry and the Flint River out west (Shoal Bass).

Yea i wasnt too sure about lake tobesofkee, its really close to Mercer( the college im going too) but ive heard its not a good fishing lake. I actually drove to Lake Wildwood but it appears to be more of a private lake. There was a checkin gate that gave me a visitors pass for the day but you only get one. I hear lake juliette is pretty peaceful to fish.  I definitely wanna check out the Ocmulgee PFA and the river.   I think lake Joy is pay to fish too but if it has good fishing i dont mind.  Never thought about fishing the flint river but i might have to give it a try, always wanted to catch a nice shoal bass.

Not an expert on this but isn't Lake Sinclair pretty close to Macon?

Yea, it is pretty close. In fact, much closer than Blackshear. Oconee is just a few miles further. But both Sinclair and Oconee are hit pretty hard by the clubs and trails in the area, which makes for a bit tougher fishing for someone not experienced with those lakes.

hmm I did fish Sinclair abit with a buddy of mine once and caught afew.  Used mostly finesse worms and it worked alright.  Never really thought about heading up there but i might just have to now.

I am heading to Sinclair in an hour or so to do some scouting for a tournament I am fishing on Saturday. I will let you know how I do. High barometric pressure, bright sun, clearing water... I am thinking docks, probably deeper docks... but we shall see. You know, the top water bite should be on during early morning conditions like that!
