Super User Catt Posted April 2, 2008 Super User Posted April 2, 2008 I totally enjoyed you're post on swim baits and have copied it to a CD (hope it aint copy righted). I went to my local tackle shop and purchased a pack of 3:16 Lure Companies Mission Fish-7 in the AYU colors since you did not offer a color suggestion and I kind of liked that color. I watched the little video on Swimfish Nation and it didn't exactly answer my question so here's the next set of questions. How do you rig them or better yet how far up the little hole do you shove the hook? Is the hook provided what you use? When the line hole is plugged how in the he_ _ do you clear it? Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 3, 2008 Author Super User Posted April 3, 2008 That boy must be out fishing again Fish Chris, Mattlures, Randall? Quote
Fish Chris Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 I've never thrown a Mission Fish. As I've told you guys before, I just don't find a need for a lot of different lures. If the bait monkey depended on me, he'd starve to death. Give me a couple Huds, and a 9" MSslammer, and if I can't stick them on those, I honestly don't believe I'd have caught them on anything else either. Peace, Fish Quote
jrhennecke Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Can you guys post the link for the swim bait post? Quote
Mattlures Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 You rig the MF like a texas rigged worm. Mickey recomends bending the hook a little to the left or right. It helps with the hook ups. Yes use the hook it came with. To clear the hole use a paperclip. and I recomend using heavy gear with this bait and setting the hook realy hard. You have a big hunk of rubber and you have to move that hook. I also recomend lubing the MF. The biggest complaint I have heard about this bait is it is dificult to hook fish with. Well use the right equipment and lube the bait and it will definatly increase your hook ups. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 3, 2008 Author Super User Posted April 3, 2008 Thanks guys The swim bait is slowing gaining popularity in Southwest Louisiana/Southeast Texas since Nick Chehotsky of Gulf Coast Tackle started selling Mattlures and recently 3:16 Lures. Everyone is hammering Nick with questions and Nick in return is hammering me because I turned him onto Mattlures. I've saved a lot of information from here on swim baits thinking I could put together something but I've come to the conclusion I don't have near enough knowledge about them. Quote
Super User David P Posted April 3, 2008 Super User Posted April 3, 2008 Catt, you'll be very pleased with the MF. I just threw one the other day for the first time, 15 minutes in, I stuck a little 6lber, but boy was it fun! Great baits, great action, and a good price. There's some videos on how to rig it on 316's website I believe if you're still not 100% clear. enjoy! Quote
bpm2000 Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 FWIW, I snug the hook all the way up inside the bait towards the front as far as I can when I fish the MF. Also, the superline hook they come with are great. Ditto on the bending. Never had the hole plugged myself. Quote
