Where are good spawning spots on the Chowan near Edenton? All I have ever heard about are around the island at the north elbow, but that's 25 miles from Edenton. With that being said, I was also wondering who has fished it recently and what they have to say about spring on the Chowan.

My advice on fishing the Chowan:

Head towards the ocean, then turn right and run up the Roanoke!  Now you may begin fishing. ;)

Man I love that place. Would love to spend a week fishing that system.

You must have been in the boat with the man in your avatar. :)

The Chowan, Roanoke, Salmons Creek, Pembroke Creek and Cashie are all great fisheries. Every year around late March to early April the Bass will migrate to Bachelor Bay and the Albemarle sound to spawn. If the sound is clear they will bed in 8 to 10' of water. If it is murky they will move shallow. It's at this time of year you can really have some fun. I'm not saying if you go to the sound you will catch fish, but they use certain places year after year. After the spawn they will move back into the rivers and creeks. An come early fall they will move to the sound again when the bait fish start moving up the rivers. Then when the water temps reach around 48 degrees they will head back to the river and creeks. It's a river system that doesn't take you long to fall in love with, I know because I fell for it 40 years ago.

You know it.  Most fun I've had landing someone's 5 pounders.   ;)

Frogtog, first of all you rock.  You are the only person to respond with any useful info.  I sent you a PM for some specifics.  If you don't mind of course.
