hokiefisherman93 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Went out today with a buddy and were slaying the fish at a little pond. We started throwing a little two inch white grub (tail dipped in chartruese spike-it) and the bass were tearing them up. Caught about 40bass all together within 2hrs everything from 1/2lbs on up to a decent 6lber. Anyone in the Richmond area heading out tomorrow with this awesome weather? Quote

Super User Sam Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Hey Hok, I am going to the local pond to throw a Japanese finesse rig to see how it works this afternoon. I throw those small white grubs in the summer and they are killers. I caught one over six-pounds at a golf course pond a few years ago up in Maryland off a small one-inch white grub. Don't know who was more surprised: me or the bass???? I like the Wright Bait Company 1 and 2 inch grubs with the grape sent. They seems to catch bass, bream, bluegills, crappie and catfish. I put them on 1/64 weight jig heads with a barrel swivel interlock snap to help with the line twist. Those white grubs are fun to fish on a drop shot rig, too. Keep those Richmond stories coming to get us excited about the warmer days ahead. Thanks for sharing. Quote

hokiefisherman93 Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 White grubs are like dynamite for anything. Today my old man and I went up and caught a bowfin (6lbs) couple crappie one big shad bunch of bass and two grass carp (12lbs each roughly!) I cannot believe how much action is already happening with the winter we had. Gotta love the action in these local ponds. The pond itself is about 6acres but no deeper than 4ft in its deepest spot. Awesome fishing back in there Quote
