Super User iceintheveins Posted March 26, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 26, 2008 Cavitrons do rock. Slow retrieve, and great squeeking and gurgling action. Have caught more largemouth, smallmouth, pike, and even trout on it than I can count. Might be the deadliest pike lure around. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 I love Cavitrons also. I also have a black and red Booyah that just rocks. Other booyahs suck for me though... I am really partial to inline buzzbaits like the Uncle Bucks one with a bucktail skirt. I think for quantity the inline is best, but for big ones, the traditional buzzbait is best. Quote
bocabasser Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 i fell in love with the reaction innovations squeeky dolphin. you adjust the tension to create different sounds and splashes. it is a hog catcher. Quote

LandofLincoln Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Cavitron. A remarkable product as it actually performs as advertised. Quote

I like inlines too. They are more weedless. My main gripe against them is you have to retrieve them faster to get them to stay on the surface. So they aren't in my top five, but I do use them, especially in the middle of the summer around heavy weeds. That's why I love the cavitrons and accent high riders so much, they come to the surface and STAY THERE with a slow retrieve. Quote
MaxDal Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 1 - Persuader Gold Rush 2 - Cavitron 3 - Terminator Ball-Buster 4 - OSP Zero One 5 - LC BMH (cast a mile) But I really love my Gold Rush buzzs from Persuader .... Quote

So they aren't in my top five, but I do use them, especially in the middle of the summer around heavy weeds. The ones I stocked up on a few years ago sink fast because of the bulky leadhead on them. I file it down so I can get a slower retrieve. I also lose a tiny bit of weight by removing those very annoying wire weed guards. It helps, and has not hurt casting distance too badly. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 26, 2008 Super User Posted March 26, 2008 1. booyah2. Strike King I only use buzzbaits in a light chop (i.e. heavy ripple). If anyone knows of a buzzbait that is LOUDER than a Booyah Buzz would you please post it here on the forum...TIA Roger Quote
MNGeorge Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Persuader double buzz for me. It is a derivative of the old Blue Fox double buzzer of which I still have one or two also. I prefer the double buzz for two main and opposing reasons. First, they stay on top at very slow speeds and still make quite a ruckus. Second, in river current, where I do 95% of my fishing, I can burn them in and not have them wash out due the side force of the current. In the summer, Smallies are in the fastest water a lot of times and you really have to be moving the buzzer to attract any bites. Quote

It has a couple of small floats on it to keep it on the surface at even slower speeds. Oh, and when you retrieve a buzzbait AGAINST the current, you can keep the speed even slower. I can't tell you how many big smallies and pike I catch in Colorado's Yampa River using buzzbaits. Quote
ba7ss3in Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 1. booyah2. Strike King x2, going to have to try the cavitron and the squeeky dolpin. Big fan of Reaction Inn. products. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 28, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 28, 2008 1/8oz Strike King Tri-Wing Buzz King That's a good one too, especially on calm days. I usually use the bigger models, but the little 1/8 ouncer can get you into buzzbait action when they show no interest in the bigger, louder ones. Quote
