Nottoway Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 The public meeting with ALL interested anglers the VDGIF and Corp of Engineers is still on for next friday January 29th at 7:30pm at the Best Western in Clarksville VA. PLEASE get the word out and tell all your friends who have not seen this post to try and show up. Your support is vital to the future of this fishery. The VDGIF will talk about lake ecology, bass biology. You will get a chance to voice your opinions and experiences but please this is not a gripe session but a learning session for the anglers and the VDGIF and Corp of Engineers. It's also a put our heads together and see what can be done to fix the problem meeting. This will be an ongoing process not just a one time meeting. I hope all concerned anglers are looking forward to this as much as I am. Look forward to seeing you there-Tim Wilson (Tim's Guide Service) Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 24, 2010 Super User Posted January 24, 2010 Nottoway, The Virginia FLW/TBF is sending a representative. Since the Corps of Engineers has taken over the permit approvals, there are clubs on waiting lists for the public ramps for their tournaments. As stated before, the best way to improve the Kerr bass population is to cut back on tournaments and stock the lake. Quote
VABassin'14 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I would love to come but that is a little too far of a drive from where I live. Quote
razorbackbasser Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 We had a similar problem in Arkansas with some lakes....The answer is as stated above....1... cut down on tournaments (at least when fish are on beds)....2....Stock fingerlings...and 3. Have a slot limit... Some lakes we had - I really think the slot limit made the most difference................ Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 27, 2010 Super User Posted January 27, 2010 Stocking bass is a bandaid. There must be deeper issues than just tournament pressure on this lake. Quote
