Yep, Pro Tech was near the DTT booth but they really didn't have too much stuff at all.

How audacious of those guys. I would take one of your Fenwick's over any of their rods...

Hey guys,

Enjoyed the show, small, but excellent.  Found a All Star ASR rod at Sports Fisherman Center Booth. Was going to buy after I saw the price,However a guy walked up said he'll make me a deal,OK.  Got the rod for about 25% off,  Check them out, and dont pay the list or sale price.  Cheaper to sale, then to load back up.

And Greentop gave the kids a nice spinner. My 11  year old loved it, got home and hit the pond.  And I hoped everyone talk with Frank Poirie at Greentop, he is one of the best local fisherman and all around good guy.

Hey Chris,

I did and didnt.  Nothing looked as good as the catch22's.  Dave had some, but nothing I would bring home.  Other then the rod, I just picked up a few hooks and a few pack of beavers from R&R, for the Potomac.

XLFISH, they had Tylures Swimbaits and Mattlures hardbaits at DTT, a couple places had DEPS Highsiders, and I saw a few places with some big Magic Swimmers. I don't remember any other REAL swimbaits.

you would think in this economy any retailer or vendor would treat potential customers like gold. Glad I didnt buy any of their rods. They seem like good rods but for another 60 bux I can go on ebay and get a new loomis glx.

On a sidenote, went out on the river today with Marc aka RockvilleMdAngler, the spoils was frozen solid so we fished blue plains and 4 mile run. I managed 3 shad  :o and Marc got 2 bass and several stickfish  ;D Was very tough fishing today and dangerous drivin a bassboat thru all that ice.

Micro,

Since I had to work the TBF booth from 4 to 8 on Saturday night, I got there around 2:30.

Sorry I missed you.

I purchased:

Some Shad Raps at $5 each.

Some custom crankbaits from Lonnie at the Castaways booth. Really beautiful cranks.

A package of Bayou Bengal Sweet Beavers. They are purple and gold flake in a watermelon body so I just had to have them.

Some nice Flick Shake jig heads.

And a Revo-S to go with my new G. Loomis 7-foot cranking stick.

Wife purchased some nice knives for the kitchen when she came by and brought me dinner.

Smaller show, but there were some very nice deals and I made some new friends.

I also met Triton9 and his dad; saw Basspro48; spoke with George with GMCO maps; saw Chris Dunnavant of the Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries; and spoke with many fishing buddies and vendors.

R&R people are from Louisiana and they are LSU fans so we had a great time talking about food and fishing.

Sorry I did not get to see anyone this year but working from 4 to 8 had my schedule off balance for the day.

Micro, let's make plans for the Chick River again.

Sam, did she get the knives from the RADA cutlery booth?

Posted

Dan, the discounted zillion. rods or reels? I was all over the place looking for a deal on a rod.

I remembered: the Cumaras on sale were at Green Top.

Zillions were reels.

Dan, yes, the RADA knives.

She loves them and the lady showed us how to sharpen the blades and clean the handles.

Excellent knives for the kitchen.

She also bought one of Lonnie's $15 crankbaits for my birthday in May. She will save it for my birthday.

In the meantime, I am having Lonnie make one other "double secret" color crankbait that we cannot get in the US.

Don't ask guys, as it is a "double secret" color combination and we can not get it at this time. And yes, it is from a foreign country.

All in all, I had a good time.

And I forgot to say that I met Fat-G and his dad and we had a great conversation. Fat-G's dad is a super guy and a great newspaper sports writer. I am looking forward to taking them fishing this summer and maybe take Fat-G to my secret farm pond so he can catch some of those big ladies.

Now to put the #6 treble hooks on my new cranks.  :)

Mark and Steve, saw you guys on the river today. We were the jonboat in the mouth of the spoils as you passed going up to blue plains. Cannot believe the line you guys took over the ferry, very precarious!!  It was a bit eyes wide open at times, dodging the chunks out there!!  We were just as fortunate to not catch any on the river. Blue plains was an aquarium, just without any bass. You guys pushed on

up to 4mr, woah....... I was exhausted after the big push past the WW bridge. Nice to get out, would have been nice to have been rewarded for the effort.

I didnt even see you guys, dont remember seeing any boats near the spoils. Some guy in a jon boat at belle haven told us the spoils was glacier land and to forget about it. So we made our way to blue plains. Never seen so many shad in my life. I credit Marc for doin a fine job of gettin thru all the ice. That lil skeeter did just fine thru all that mess. There was only 3 other boats in blue plains and wouldnt you know my old sea nymph was one of them, couldnt believe it. I shouted over to him hey Im the guy that sold you that boat, too funny. Small world considering the guy lives in colonial beach. Well at least I know we arent the only guys on this forum crazy enough to venture out in that mess, too bad you didnt catch anything. I'd rathe be out on the water and catch nothing then be on shore and catch 4 or 5 tho. Much better practice for someone like me to be on the water and tryin to develop my skillset.
