masterbaiter99 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Have a tournament coming up on East Lake Toho in a couple of weeks and just wondering if anyone has any news on the lake lately. Are they on the beds yet over there? If anyone has any spots they can share or locations of offshore brushpiles/etc.....it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and happy holidays! Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Havent seen any feedback on this post and was hopeful someone may be able to give me some ideas. Going to be fishing East Lake this coming Friday/Saturday Jan 8th-9th. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Quote
George Welcome Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 People contacting me are reporting strike outs but a great deal of that is this weather. Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Thanks George, sounds like it might be a rough weekend for our club tournament! Quote
Dockhead Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Have you prefished it at all? I have a tournament there the 16th of January, and I have never been there. Good chance I won't make it over before then. Let me know how it goes. Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Have not prefished at all and haven't been there since 2007. I am going to try to get out on Friday if the weather is fishable to see what I can find. Doesn't seem to be much info on this lake unfortunately. Quote
George Welcome Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 There isn't a lot of info because there aren't a lot of people fishing the lake. Most of its traffic comes from those camping at East Lake Fish Camp. Talk to the people at the camp. Quote
Dockhead Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Here is one article, but doesn't say a whole lot. I was thinking of going out there Friday as well, but with the weather the way it is seems like a waste of gas. May just do my tournament as a non-boater and let the chips fall where they may. Good luck - try to avoid frost bite if nothing else. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/bmseries/news/story?page=b_news_bassmaster_series_brass_ring Quote
Willzx225 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I actually was a competitor in the tournament that Dockhead's link was for. It was a pretty tough tournament but the guys who did best fished in and around Runneymede lake which, if I remember correctly, is in the SE corner of East Lake Toho. Of course the conditions are completely different but we did have a moderate cold front that hit the night before the tournament. On the first day, the leaders were flipping mats and grass in Runneymede or throwing spinnerbaits. I didn't fair to well the first day but on the second day I caught a decent bag on a spinnerbait and fluke on the inside grass line to the east of the entrance of Runneymede. After I caught my limit, I went flipping and lost one between 6-8lbs > . Hope this helps a little bit. I ended up with just under 10lbs on the day and missed the cut by 2.5lbs (the cut after 2 days was 12lbs and some change). Jeff Coble won with 27lbs in three days but caught half of that the first day flipping. Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Thanks a bunch guys. Willzx, that is valuable info to me. I had been told by one other person to check Runnymead so I will probably practice there Friday to check it out. At least it gives me a starting point. I appreciate the help and will let you guys know how it goes on Sunday/Monday when I get back! Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I have fished some on that lake, and where we have caught our limit was the lily pads on the North west end of the lake in Boggy Cove and near E lake fish camp. Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 It was a tough day of fishing for our club on Saturday. 27 boats launched and only 24 fish were caught. 13 boats caught fish and 14 zeroed. No limits! The winning weight was just over 10 pounds as one team caught 4 bass (one being a 6lb kicker). They were dragging Carolina Rigs on the south end in deep holes. My team caught 2 little ones on worms in the Boggy Creek canal in the deep holes. It seemed like finding deep water was key and fishing SLOW!!! Wish I had more to report. If the weather warms I would expect the bite to pick up though. Quote
Dockhead Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I would say anyone who even went out last Saturday is a great fisherman in my book. The weather has just been ridiculous (obviously don't need to tell you that master). I have my tournament there this Saturday and was not able to pre-fish. So, the question is, if you were going back this weekend, with a slight warming trend on the way (supposed to be in the 70's Fri. and Sat.) what would you do?? Quote
