Thai Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 four mile run was a hit today boys, the crappie are in and the bass are still there, even managed to catch a 4lb carp on a crappie tube. Overall managed maybe a dozen crappie, 4 bass, and a carp in the 2 hours that I was there, not too shabby. I was on the southern side next to the toyota dealership, moved maybe less than 50 yards. Water was clear and fish were visible esp the schools of perch and crappie near the banks. Bass were a little deeper hugged up against the bridge supports. Quote
LHC - Bank Robber Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 awsome to hear, few questions (if you dont mind, if not I can figure it out) whatd you get the bass on and what was the tide. Quote
Thai Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 black and blue 3/8 Jig with jackall cover craw trailer and on an outgoing tide Quote
Thai Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Also had one follow a small jerkbait up to shore nothing big but it was exciting, gave up the jerkbait not to long after as I dont have the paitence for it Quote
Thai Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 No pics, it was cold under those bridges and i mean cold..I wasnt going to take my gloves off to be able to use the iphone When we do go on Sat I deff recommend bringing a light-med action spinning outfit for those crappie Quote
Slip Gun Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Thai! I need me some fishing. You gonna be free Saturday? I am thinking about giving it a try. Quote
quanjig Posted December 25, 2009 Author Posted December 25, 2009 Well nice work Thai. Once again I think the weather is gonna pooch us but good. 2+ inches of rain + snow melt....... I think Saturday might be a tough deal. I've seen what a big rain can do to the run and it's not pretty. Quote
Thai Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Muddy or not I'm still down to try my luck there again, maybe this time I'll venture further than 50yards haha Quote
Super User VolFan Posted December 25, 2009 Super User Posted December 25, 2009 Try some jerkbaits over on that side, little deeper than the panfish. Quote
Bigs Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 sounds like you had a good 2 hours out there. Im assuming thats about all u could take was 2 hours of that freezing weather. Man I would have walked a lil to catch a dozen crappie and 4 bass. If you go next week then holla at me. Maybe I could try out my pixy on those crappie since I dont have any medium light soinning gear. Quote
Thai Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 The key to Jerkbaits in the cold though is patience and I mean saintly patience....neither of those would I call myself..... :-/ Quote
ptomacbass Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Do you know what the water temperature was in 4 Mile Run? Quote
Thai Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Sorry I don't but there was no ice anywhere Quote
quanjig Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 So what time are you gonna get down there Thai? I think I'm gonna get down there at about 7:30 am, catch the last bit of outgoing tide and the first part of incoming tide. Quote
Thai Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Scratch that PM, I'll see you out there at 7:30 or so, which side are you going to fish? Quote
quanjig Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 Well then, read and replied to your pm before I looked at the thread. Gonna be on the side next to the Toyota dealership Quote
Super User VolFan Posted December 26, 2009 Super User Posted December 26, 2009 Did you guys make it over there? It's looked like chocoalte milk all day. Quote
quanjig Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 It was a very tough deal today. I managed to snag a very large carp in the tail, got it all the way to the bank and snapped off!! Couple of small bites, but no bass or crappie. Hooked up with Thai and friends ( sorry guys, I'm horrible with names) at around 8am and we walked around a bit looking for some willing takers in the fast, muddy, cold water. It was a crap shoot at best but we were out of the house and giving it a shot!! Quote
Thai Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I also managed to snag what I'm pretty sure was a corpse, snapped before I got it out though ;D Quote
Bigs Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Thai got skunked ? Whats the world coming to... Quote
Thai Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I've had my fair share of skunks like everyone else, and it was tough conditions out there today.... Quote
