Fresh water newbie orlando Fl

hey there im new to the forum i grew up saltwater fishing and love it but living in central florida i thought i would take advantage of living around the winter park chain of lakes. Has anyone fished these lakes any advice of good spots and lures to use? my girlfriend lives on a small spring fed lake and i have caught a few 1lbers or so on rubber worms fishing from shore if i fish a little farther out do bass usually swim in the deeper parts? thanks in advance for answering my newbie questions
