soccplayer07 Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I'm thinking of fishing Burke Wednesday afternoon. I think Dan is riding along. I have room for one more. Anybody else interested in bringing a boat? I'm looking forward to trying out all those brush piles. Let me know. Quote
quanjig Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Aaron, don't get discouraged when looking for the piles. Keep in mind that they are very close to drop-offs. do you have any markers? the way I find and fish the piles is to get in the general area, cast around until i get into a real meaty area or get bit, chuck out a bouy and continue to stay on or near the bouy and refine my casts and maybe find some other bits of cover. Super User Dan: Posted November 22, 2009 Super User Posted November 22, 2009 Chris (cmatthews) said he wanted to go, I know Thai would if it doesn't work out with Chris. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 22, 2009 Author Posted November 22, 2009 i talked to chris. i feel bad having him drive up an hour and half for a short afternoon trip. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 22, 2009 Super User Posted November 22, 2009 ahh, gotcha. That would be rough, especially in weekday traffic. Quote
shimmy Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 That sounds like fun, i am thinkin about going as well. I might just keep the bigger bait on though and give it a shot for a bigger gal. Might give the old raft a whirl at it. I must be weird or something but i am just not afraid to get skunked. I can endure like a champ. Again, thanks quan for the maps. Should be interesting trying to find the brush piles with no depth finder. But, i am stubborn and probably will fish the whole area till i find it. Are people feeling a tournament of sorts or just a leisure outing on the Burke? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 22, 2009 Super User Posted November 22, 2009 Troy, we'll get another tournament style get together going at Burke sometime but I think Aaron just wants to go for a short trip to "learn" the lake a little bit. You should be fine on Burke with a raft. You'll find those brushpiles, just put on a 1/2oz jig and drag it around for a while. Quote
Thai Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Yes i would like to come with you Aaron if you got room, you cant break up the Dynamic Duo (Dan & I)! 8-) Quote
NewAngler Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Chris, wednesday is going to be the busiest day on the road for the whole year. Might wanna re think driving up. Plus NOVA drivers are horrible for the most part. Thai, you and Dan a wrestling tag team now? I know the demand for me is pretty high right now, especially after my stellar performance yesterday, but I have to work. My "modesty" a joke, obviously. Anyone ever thought of starting a * club? Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Ok Thai, the open seat is yours...consider this a tryout for the Anna trip...haha It looks as though it might rain. Are you both still interested? Quote
Thai Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 HAH! I'm very interested rain or shine but I think you have things mixxed around Aaron... Consider this your tryout! I haven't decided whose boat I want to give a proper break in! ;D I kid I kid! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 23, 2009 Super User Posted November 23, 2009 Of course I'm still interested! Too bad the 19 jigs I just ordered won't be here by then...sounds like jigs will come into play at Burke at this time of year. Quote
Thai Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I think a jig and tube will be the only thing I throw Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 I'm thinkin a jig, deep crankbait, drop shot and possibly a spoon. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 24, 2009 Super User Posted November 24, 2009 I'm thinkin a jig, deep crankbait, drop shot and possibly a spoon. Add a shaky head and that's exactly what I was thinking. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 thats why we win "tourneys"!!! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 24, 2009 Super User Posted November 24, 2009 well, we'll see, we could be completely wrong! Either way, we need to find something to give us an advantage against John so he doesn't completely embarrass everyone when we fish Burke. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 it would take us years to catch up to john. Quote
Thai Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Fish it enough and I'm sure you'll be consistently pulling fish out whats the max depth of Burke anyways? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted November 24, 2009 Super User Posted November 24, 2009 I'm not sure anyone can consistently pull fish out of Burke, not year round at least. ;D Quote
Thai Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I'm not sure anyone can consistently pull fish out of Burke, not year round at least. ;D Who would want to fish it during the recreational season anyways?!?!? ;D Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Fish it enough and I'm sure you'll be consistently pulling fish out whats the max depth of Burke anyways? I think its around 35ft at max. Quote
quanjig Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Be prepaired to donate some tackle to the piles when you find them. And just remember a day at Burke is not complete without snagging a giant pile of fishing line!!! The piles are located close to a drop or deeper water. Aaron pm me and I will try to get you some info on how to line up some of the piles. Good luck guys, I want a good result and detailed report. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Dan/Thai do either of you have marker buoys? Quote
