flyboy Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Hello Everybody My wife and I want to go to different places in our home state of Florida. We live on the Harris Chain, but want to try other lakes. Is there anybody out there that would recommend any fish camps with good cabins for the wife, good fishing and a decent boat ramp? Thanks Quote
George Welcome Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 http://www.campmack.com/ From there you have access to: Kissimmee, Hatchineha, Cypress, Toho, and the Kissimmee river. Quote
GLADES Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 http://www.campmack.com/ From there you have access to: Kissimmee, Hatchineha, Cypress, Toho, and the Kissimmee river. I have fished out of Camp Mack many times since the early 70's. My parents were friends with the original owners. I would definately recommend Camp Mack. Good access, accomodations, and friendly folks Quote
bnwcrankin Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Come up to the Ocala national forest! Awesome fishing and even better scenery. Lake Dorr cabin is a very nice place to stay. Waiting list so make sure to make reservations. Lake kerr resort is another option. It's on a very good lake (Kerr). There's also a nice little place on the st. john's in astor. Cant remember the name but it's right off of sr 40 in astor. Boat ramp, bait store and it's right on the river, not far from Lake George. If you need some more info PM me and I'll get you what you need. .. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted November 14, 2009 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted November 14, 2009 Camp Mack is really nice but crowded most of the time. Grape Hammock http://www.grapehammock.com/ is on the south end of Kissimmee and is almost as nice, a lot homier and less expensive than camp mack. We spent a weekend there last month and loved it. There is also a place on Crooked Lake that we have stayed at several times with a private boat ramp. They don't have a web site so I will try to find the number for you. Quote

salmicropterus Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Ditto on Grape Hammock-it's a great place. Trails End at the north end of Istokpoga is nice also. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted November 15, 2009 Super User Posted November 15, 2009 Another vote for Camp Mack and Grape Hammock on Lake Kissimmee, to which I would add the often overlooked Richardson's Fish Camp on Lake Tohopekaliga (West Toho). When still living in New Jersey, we spent a week in one of their cabins, where camping is also available. To boot, it's just a short hop from Richardson's Camp to Shingle Creek of Dean Rojas fame (45lb 2oz daily stringer). http://www.hikercentral.com/campgrounds/103757.html Roger Quote
