basspro96 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 My personal favorites areeeeeeeee. "DRUM ROLLL PLEASE." A carolina rigged crankbait and a booya dancing buzz with a rat-L- Trap on the botton and a weightless rig with a shad colored senko on the bottom and a finese worm on the top with Two hooks Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I have an antique lure book that has a shiner inside a test tube with hooks attached so the shiner is reusable I've seen that. I remember thinking ..."forget thinking outside the box, this guy was thinking inside the tube" lol My nomination would be an NGK spark plug. I chiseled the lead off of a Pogie snag hook and crimped it into the gap of the spark plug. I was clamming, had a rod, no plugs, bluefish were everywhere. That was the day I learned we can catch them on ANYTHING and started making the our "Woodies" (below) Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted March 27, 2008 Super User Posted March 27, 2008 Drop shot with a jig underneath. Not unheard of ,but strange to me. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 That was the day I learned we can catch them on ANYTHING LOL. When they are schooling, my cousins and I used to catch them on nothing but a hook with a piece of surgical tubing on it in south jersey. Some days we would catch and release a hundred bluefish. EdKras Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I came up with a bobber dropshot rig. Tie a dropshot hook on and leave a two foot tag end. Put a split shot about six inches above the hook. Put a bobber where your dropshot weight would normally go at the end. Rig with your favorite DS bait. It's tricky to cast, but the idea was to fish it next to floating docks. I only caught bluegills the two times I tried it but thought it had potential. Quote
GobbleDog Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 "The Chicken Rig" A normal T-rig with sliding bullet weight (10" curly tail) with another worm hook tied 2 feet above (4" curly tail). That's it. It's a pain to cast because the two worms swirl around during the cast, so it works best when casting WITH the wind into off-shore grass. The idea was the big worm gets down in the grass while the small worm swims a foot above. I noticed 75% of the fish I caught would hit the smaller worm on top. I tried mixing it up with senkos and other worms, but none worked nearly as well as the 10" curlytail on bottom and 4" curlytail on top. When my fishing partner first saw it, he looked at me and said "what the hell is that? It looks like a d**n chicken rig!" referring to the salt-water rig with numerous hooks and baits attached to one line. I rarely use it much anymore, but when times are tough - the chicken rig is ready. 8-) Quote

Branuss04 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Donkey Rig: Start with two barrel swivels. Tie a 15 inch leader and EWG Style hook to the leader. Then tie a 12 inch leader and EWG style hook to the second swivel. Pass the main line through the eye of the swivel with the 15 inch leader with hook. The 15 inch leader and hook must slide up and down the main line. Tie the main line directly to the swivel with the 12 inch leader and hook. Utilize texas rigging to rig your favorite color Lake Fork Tackle Magic Shad or Zig Zag on both hooks and let them dance! Quote
Junebug Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I was having a really bad day and wasn't catching anything, so I tied on an x-rap, then I took about three more feet of line and tied a leader from the back ring of the x-rap and tied on another x-rap to the back of it. I hooked a 3 pound large mouth on the very first cast. The two lures actually swam very well together. I'm sure that won't be the last time I do it, but it did occur to me that could potentially be a very expensive break off. Quote
wagn Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 that youtube video of the remote controlle boat was awesome. It was like a mini jaws trying to pull the boat under. Quote
guitarkid Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Personnaly I think the guy talking about that weird rig where you put the marker caps over the weight. But it is supposed to save the tip of your worm from ripping. SO, if you are out there do not take any offense to this I just thought it was weird, Unusual, and original. Who knows I might try it myself. -searoach Quote
detroit1 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I tried a 3 hook/bait dropshot rig a couple of times last year with no results, BUT IT LOOKED COOL, like my own little school of minnows. I think it has promise, but lookout if i ever run into a pack of smalljaws! Quote
