Super User fishinfiend Posted September 20, 2009 Super User Posted September 20, 2009 I'm looking for a little help on Reelfoot. Any comments will be useful. I am trying to go next weekend. What has been your experience been like? What has produced? Any other comments you think would be useful. Thanks in advance for your help! Quote
BobP Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I fished for a week at Reelfoot and didn't catch a single bass. It's noted for sunfish and the area lodges cater to that. When I was there, they only guys who caught bass took their boat a few miles over to the Mississippi and whacked'em. Quote
Super User VolFan Posted October 10, 2009 Super User Posted October 10, 2009 Fish big bluegill swimbaits around dropoffs and holes around the cypress trees. Big line, stout rod, 'cause if they get in the roots, your swimbait is gone, and that gets expensive. You can carolina rig flukes through the trees as well as work jig and pigs around the bases. Green/pumpkin was always our best color, with motor oil and/or redd shad tequila sunrise next. When all else fails, take an ultralight or a 3 wt flyrod and catch HUGE gills, it's as fun as anything.
