I am a NATIVE FLORIDIAN, born and raised in West Palm Beach. Post quite often, but not as often as some of my home bound northern brethren. ;)

Fish about 2-5x week for bass, peacock, snook, tarpon, or anything swims in the water around here. Bass is my favorite because all I have to do is walk out into the backyard :P, 24/7 365!

West Palm Beach, Florida here.

And I would have to disagree, I think there is alot more people on this forum from Florida than anywhere else. They just dont post as much.

Like SirSnookaLot said, Florida is the fish capital of the world for saltwater.  BUT, there are MANY bass fisherman and clubs here in S.Florida.  If you don't see them then you aren't looking.

Welcome to the forum. Fla native here.

My brother lives in Cape Coral, and he fishes the bays mostly by kayak. The tarpon, snook, redfish are using cooperative.

If the local canals are slow, head inland to the Big- o or istapoga

I used to be a northerner.I also used to think a 3lb fish was big. Grin

I still haven't joined the elitist group of saltwater fishers though.

Bass fishing is in my blood and all I have done all my life.

just saw your post fin@tic.............

you should give the salt a try, its really great!!!!

but, i as well.... was born a bass fisherman, i just dabble in the rest ;)

Clearwater Florida in da house.

Between work, fishing, and the honey do list I don't spend a lot of time here posting.

I was fishing on lake Panasofkee all day yesterday and was wore out when I got home.

This is the first time I've been on here in a few days.

I assure you there a a lot of Florida fishermen here.

Port St. Lucie here.

I don't usually post in this forum, BassResource isn't so big that I feel lost in the general sections.  But I'm glad I checked in here today.  There are probably as many active posters from Florida as there are any other state.

I was actually thinking of moving to Florida,

but after reading some of the negative posts,

I think I'll just stay right here in central Montana ;)

I am from Central Florida. It has been reel hot here and in shallow water the oxygen is low.Just find higher oxygen water may help you.As far as salt water one year the red tied took out allot of fish. They have  been doing better saltwater than fresh water so far.

First of all in a state laden with world famous bass fishing lakes, south west Florida has probably the least amount of freshwater lakes available, with the exception of Lake Trafford and the canals.

If I were you and I wanted to meet Florida bass fisherman i would ether move to where the fish are, or take up salt water fishing, SW Fl. has some of the worlds best.

Go to anyone of the major trails held on the central/south central Florida lakes and you'll see up to 70 boats at any given major tournament that are as if not more competitive then the professional trails, not to mention the numerous club events held. trails. Enter one and you'll see many bass people, most likely on the leader board.

I'm in Clearwater, across from Tampa. I do Google Earth searches for local ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water. I've found a few lakes and ponds that can be very productive here in Pinellas county. I just bought a kayak and now there is a whole new world of fishing about to open up for me here in paradise.....

I've organized several get togethers made up of guys in South Florida from this site. Now I'm up in Tally, but there are TONS of guys from Florida on this site.

But the reason you don't hear about the bass is because of all the other options Floridians have to fish for. A guy in a land locked state pretty much has to fish for bass because that's the most exciting game in town. But here, we have many other fish that are either better fighters (snook, tarpon, dolphin, etc.) or better tasting (dolphin, snapper, redfish, grouper, snapper, etc.). It's really a good problem to have!

Hey there, get in touch with me, I am in fort myers and looking to share info on some good spots.  Maybe we can get together.  A few of my buddies and I get out quite a bit to find new places and fish quite often.

At the looks of it, it seems like Florida is not that popular for bass fishing. I've lived in South florida all my life and grew up hearing from everyone that Florida is the fishing capital of the world and stuff.

But then I get on these fishing forums and everyone is from Texas, Tennessee, New York.... I just found it interesting that I havent found that many Florida bass fishers and there are absolutely no SW Florida bass clubs or anything.

Am I looking at the wrong places? Thanks!

Englewood here..... Most of my local freshwater haunts are loosing Bass to exotic fish.   This year Ive caught more mayan chiclads than bass.  They seem so much more agressive, even the snook arent around anymore.   The tilapia pushed the bluegill and shiners out years ago.

Must concur with the rest of us Floridians....plenty of us here....plenty of fish in this state. If you fished a different lake every day, you could not fish every one in a lifetime. Come on down.....the fishin's fine.
