At the looks of it, it seems like Florida is not that popular for bass fishing. I've lived in South florida all my life and grew up hearing from everyone that Florida is the fishing capital of the world and stuff.

But then I get on these fishing forums and everyone is from Texas, Tennessee, New York.... I just found it interesting that I havent found that many Florida bass fishers and there are absolutely no SW Florida bass clubs or anything.

Am I looking at the wrong places? Thanks!

I'll trade places with you.

There are several Florida guys here. Some just don't list where they are from but check any thread and you will see several Floridians.

LoL... no, I've been looking at this forum for a while now and decided to join yesterday. I also belong to another bass forum. Most of the people are not from Florida. Just kinda interesting.

I was VERY surprised that there are a lot of New Yorkers that bass fish. I just thought it was a southern thing.  ;D

We're too busy fishing for you to notice us on here.  Those silly northern people have these weird "seasons" and whatnot that they can catch bass.  So they have more time to post  ;D

I'm from Florida and Florida is called the the fishing capital of the world for it's salt water fishing ( not like it used to be, many places are fished out).

In the summer other species are hot and and speaking for myself only I prefer fishing for tarpon and snook.

I bass  and peacock fish in the winter months.

Its crazy... a lot of our canals here in Fort Myers/Cape Coral are all getting polluted. The canal I used to live on 7 years ago now has no fish in it. It's sad.

I keep trying to find better fishing spots, but Im coming out thin. I'm going to hit a new spot next weekend. Many places here are either polluted or either fished out. It sucks.

I am from florida, I live in J-ville and Go to School at FGCU, I am the presedrnt of the fishing club and I dissagree with you, we have had 3 tournaments for bass, the winning weights(for 3 fish) where 12.4, 16.8, and 13.1, and we typically have every person catch there 3 fish limit, and it is all catch and release. I dont know where you fish, but if you want some help let me know. Im not there now, but there are many pond and canals we fish that have tons of little fish and have some HOGS in them.

Miami in da house  :D  I'm shore bound so I don't really know of any clubs but I'm sure someone will jump in that does know. I noticed a lot of Florida members and all of them are really helpful. As for me, I fish both salt and fresh. Sort of depends on my mood, the tides and what the fishing reports indicate. Tomorrow I'm going out for Snook but on Sunday I'll probably be back looking for LMB in the Glades or one of my local lakes  :)

I used to be a northerner.I also used to think a 3lb fish was big. ;D

I still haven't joined the elitist group of saltwater fishers though.

Bass fishing is in my blood and all I have done all my life.

I do my skiing when theres a rope tied to the back of a boat.  That and the women wear A LOT less clothing down here when skiing is involved.  Clothing mishaps are so much better when theres only two small pieces of fabric attached to said women.

Fished out is about right.  I'm not sure if it's just sheer fishing pressure or not though.  I mostly target offshore pelagic species and I can say that there are nowhere near the same weedlines like there used to be several years back.  When I was younger you couldn't help but find grass so thick you could walk on top of it.  Now finding a few sporadic clumps of weed is pretty tough.  I miss the days of being about to fill up the boat with dolphin in about 2 hours.  If I could afford the fuel I'd make the short drive over the Bimini and fish there.  But at darn near 6 bucks a gallon for fuel that isn't so easy anymore.

There are at least 25 floridians that regularly post here.   You must not be looking in the right place.

No FL bass fisherman, NONSENSE!!!!! Central FL stays Bass fishing man! Me, 50 or so relatives and a couple hundred friends around my area(just off the top of my head)! And yes, Fl is still the fishing capitol of the world!   ;)

go find a pond behind a older shopping center, through a crank bait, trap or worm, this is how I am fairly successful in that area, if you can get in to private golf courses or housing areas that is where you will find the biggest of the big fish.

if you haven't seen any florida peoples posts yet, keep reading. there are a lot of us.
