masterbaiter99 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Heading down to Istokpoga on Aug. 7th-8th and have not been there in over a year. Any current reports on where/what is happening down that way? I know the hydrilla is usually the "IT" spot, but hoping to find some in the canals and the pads in NW section. Thanks Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 SUCKS, has all year! That lake gets a ridiculous amount of pressure 24/7! We fished it from Nov 08'-April 09' with minimal results! It use to be my favorite lunker lake! The only action we found was about 4ft into the rush of the two islands! A few stragglers in the pads on Rat-L-Traps but most on jigs. I like Walk-n- Water better now! BEST OF LUCK Quote
gar-tracker Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 February to June was red hot we were catching large bags, pitching craws on the deeper outside reed line, then moving in with frogs if the were chasing. I haven't been back in a month. I would look for some deep water Hydrilla if I were to be fishing it now. Try down south theres usually some nice giant pods of grass off those trees. Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted July 29, 2009 Author Posted July 29, 2009 Thanks for the insight guys. I have always struggled in that hydrilla but I know there are some lunkers in there. Will see what I can do to find some Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I will most likely hit it again next weekend just to see whats changed. Let us know how you do man! Quote

masterbaiter99 Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Anyone fish Istokpoga this past weekend? Heading down this Fri/Sat to fish it. Curious how it's fishing. Was planning on hitting the pads by Henderson for sure and that NW bank along the grass lines. Quote
ABLE2DISABLE1 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Try the Cow Pen/,,N28 10,06.0" W81 21, 35.3" GPS.If that doesn't work try South port Sling N28 08, 59.3" W81 21, 01.3" GPS. GOOD LUCK.I personally like fishing around Makinson Island t-rig-gin craws and top water frogs in the jitt.Paradise Island is good to.I love it when people have a hard time.Going behind them and picking up the left overs. It,s great when their hunting for the big bite, they just doesn,t stick around for the rest. There is a time to leave though. These are legitimate coradance. DINK WHISPERER Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I fished it during the week and caught a total of 12 fish. Most around the small island near the Lorida Park dock. Some from the pads near Henderson's as well. Most where caught on spinnerbaits and jigs. Quote
masterbaiter99 Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Thanks again for all the insight. We ended up winning our club tournament with just over 16 pounds. Caught all our fish in the pads out front of Hendersons on Watermelon/Red Senkos fished slowly on the outside edge of the pads. Texas rigged using a 1/32 tungsten weight. We tried some of the Hydrilla on the south end where we were told they were and caught some in practice and just couldn't get the bite going but the pads in front of Hendersons held them Saturday. Our big one was only 4.6lbs but we had a nice average catching three in that 3.5 - 4.5 range. All in all it was a good day! Quote
