logger Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 We have a trip planned for August of 2010 to Gatlinburg and I am looking for any suggestions or information on the area, guides, good bass fishing lakes, entertainment, food etc. Lodging is already taken care of just looking to fill in the details of the trip. In advance Logger Quote
drmnbig Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I've been there a couple of times. You have a BassPro right next to the interstate. It's one of the nicest ones I've been in. There are several lakes within a short drive of there. I've never fished any of them but they sure do look like some fishy places. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 6, 2009 Super User Posted August 6, 2009 Cherokee, Douglas and Ft Loudon are your closest options. I don't know if there is a guide on any of those lakes. You've got a year to find out, eh? Quote

You've got a year to find out, eh? There are guides on both Douglas and Cherokee. I fish them both regularly. There plenty of fly fishing stream up in Cosby (right next to Galtinburg) or you can drive about 15 miles to nearest landing for Douglas. In August, fishing be pretty tough, so I recommend night fishing and early morning fishing for top water will yield plenty of result. Douglas is notoriously famous for smaller fish. Many of tournaments I fished on Thursday night usually takes 7 pounds to win. You can expect lot of fish to be caught early in morning, but I wouldn't have an high expectation for big fish during that time of year. Quote

If you never been to Galtinburg, you are in for a treat. Lot of activities, and lot of things to do. I live 30 miles from it. It fun to be there in winter time, cold air, snowy mountains, and hot cocoa. While you are in Galtinburg, when you not fishing of course, may I recommend, hiking up Clingman Dome? It in Smoky Mountain National Park, and when you get to top, there an observation tower, and you cannot see the bottom, too much smog and fogs, and etc. It a treat. Quote
