I was chatting with the gun manager at GreenTop today and he told me a gun went off at BPS today in Richmond.  Rumor has it someone stuck a round in one of the guns on the floor.  No one hurt.  But quite a surprise.

Can't find any details yet on the web.  Anyone know anything about it?

I've checked some Richmond news sites and found nothing.

I use to work at Green Top and I can tell you that if one of the guys at the counter told you that he more than likely heard it from a good source.  It is something that could happen anywhere but that is why the clerks at the gun counter (no matter where) have to keep an eye on people.  You wouldn't believe how often people would come in with a gun to trade in that was loaded!  Pretty scary stuff and it is definately a scary thing.  Even people that have been around guns there whole lives make mistakes...but that kind of mistake could cost someone their life. Just glad to hear that nobody was hurt.

Do you know what happened?

A customer was carrying his concealed handgun, he wanted to see if the gun he was going to purchase would fit in the holster he already had, he put his personal gun on the counter and the employee helping him put the gun behind the counter the customer said it was not chambered. Another associate picks up the gun, chambers it and shoots it into the floor in front of him.

That's inexcusable.

Wow. That's one of the cardinal rules of holding a gun. And by a gun sales associate?

Always check if it's loaded, no matter who says it's not.

I don't think something that dumb would ever happen at Greentop.  :)

it was loaded but not chambered and the customer informed the employee of that but some other employee decided to pick it up pulled the slide back and shot it at the floor, the gun was put behind the counter behind the employee that was helping the customer What good is a concealed if not loaded.

i know that bps in hanover off of lewiston rd the guys there in the gun shop are quick to show their guns and let you handle them. we was just strolling by the counters and he quickly ask if we want to see a gun. grant though he was a real nice guy and just fanatic with guns. he never let us leave the counter and never pulled no more than one out. he was very helpful too explaining to us the differences between them.

so being, quick to show us the guns he was very responsible at the same time.
