soccplayer07 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I met up with Dan (member here) this morning for a Potomac trip. We fished the grass early and landed four. Two on jigs and two on top water. As the bite ended we decided to change spots. Unfortunately I could not trim my motor back into the water. Never had this problem before! It would trim up but not down. I attempted to use the manual release but had no luck. Very difficult to do that while on the water and not being able to see the screw. Long story short, I spent at least an hour in the water trying to fix it. I eventually gave up and decided to use the trolling motor and attempt to get back to pohick. After about 40 minutes and making little progress I called a tow company and was quoted $625 for a mile or so tow!!!!!!!!! Back to the trolling motor we went. A few minutes later I called my mechanic and he walked me through a few steps and the motor was up (trimmed down) and running. I switched the bad relay with the good one. The part will run around $20 which is a little better than $625! So far quite an embarrassing day to have a new friend on your boat. We decided to fish a little longer to see if we could salvage the day. 7 fish later we had a 3.4 lbs fish (picture of Dan below) and my new pb of 09, 5.6 lbs (picture below). I would say we saved the day quite well! Quote
rondef Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Awesome day out on the water guys, glad to see that you both did well. That is one nice looking hawg that you are holding. I am also glad to hear that you were able to fix your boat and not pay for the tow. Quote
A.Do? Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Awesome story and glad everything turned out better. Congrats on the PB for 2009! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted July 7, 2009 Super User Posted July 7, 2009 thanks for the seat, Aaron. I had an awesome time. I was worried about your engine there but I'm glad it got sorted out. I hope that hydraulic fluid situation doesn't cause any problems. I just restocked by box with the rage toads so let me know the next time you have an open seat! ;D Quote
