GonzoFishing Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Anyone know of tackle shop in the Miami area that sells wild shiners? Regular (domestic?) shiners don't last too long and their too small. Thanks Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 if your looking for shrimp or mullet I could help you. Try a bait shop close to the glades. probably your best bet. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 hey maybe try bass pro?? I'm thinking they might have some shiners. I know the bass pro in Islamorada has all kinds of live bait. Give 'em a call! Quote
SoFl-native Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I dont remember any shops that carried wild shiners. Until you got close to lake O. I think Sawgrass and Holiday used to have wilds every now and again. Just catch your own. Quote

The Snook were slamming mullet down by cutler bay but I wasnt able to castnet any and of course they wouldnt hit anything else I had :'( Quote

Although some of those mullet will more than likely be way to large for snook. darn blast using light tackle though. Quote
gar-tracker Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Very rare to find them down south, most are domestic. Maybe Holiday Park griffin and US 27, but I would call first. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 I pick up shiners every once in a while at holiday park for the kids. It's around 11 bucks for a dozen. And they aren't the best quality in the world. Quote

The Snook were slamming mullet down by cutler bay but I wasnt able to castnet any and of course they wouldnt hit anything else I had :'( theres tons of mullet down here by black point (i live less than 5 minutes from it). i know one of the tackle shops on old cutler used to sell shiners , but i havnt been into one of those in years. if anyone is down around my way , im always down to fish. GonzoFishing Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Thanks for the info everyone! I'm hoping to replace my castnet soon for those mullet and as far as the shiners go, I think I'll just stick to lures ;D Quote
