Mepps Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Went out yesterday in the evening to a private lake out in Thornburg with my friend Jay. Well usually we do somewhat well here but haven't really caught anything of size. I landed 10 on 5"Senkos and Spinners, and he landed around the same. They were all dinks, nothing real picture worthy. Well, as I was getting ready to pack it up, and we got off the boat, I said to myself, "lets give this 6" Senko one more try..." well again a foot off the shoreline, this beast nailed me and took me for a short ride. I actually thought I was snagged till she started peeling drag. 6lb 3oz was the verdict, though she seems bigger to me. Either way this is my largest documented bass, and it was well worth the time out. Hope you guys are catching. Quote
raynman Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Nice fish! Just curious, what colour senkos have you been having success with? Lately I've been having pretty good luck with the Watermellon/Black&Red 6' Yamasenko... been trying the Black/blue flake but not a ton of luck. You'll have to let me know if you're ever out in the Reston area, I've found a few decent spots and am always up for a fishin partner. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Great catch, that fish has some length to him Quote
Mepps Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Thanks Fellas. Raynman, I was using 6" Watermelon/flake on 4/0 Red Gamakatsu EWG. I must say, I'm really sold on the 6" version of this lure Andrew...you are too much. I know that you wanted to go with me, but I barely have permission as it is. Sorry bud Quote
raynman Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 nice! I've been using the same hook/colour combo in the 5' with a 3/0 hook. Biggest I've caught on it has been about 3.5lbs... maybe I Need to step up to the bigger size... Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Donkey... HEE HAW! That thing is a monster. Kevin your scale is broke lol. J/k... I would compare it against others though. My berkley was off with my last pb by 3 ounces give or take. We reset my dads Rapala Digi twice and got the same reading both times. Plus it was higher lol. You ALWAYs go with the higher reading lol. Anyway, great job man. Senko magic. Quote
rondef Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Awesome job Kevin, that is one fine looking hawg you got there CONGRATS. Quote
kiko13 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Smile says it all Kevin!! Nicely done! Ernie PS- we need to get Andrew out on the water before he goes nuts on us!! ;D Quote
mrlitetackle Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 nice fish my man..... the colorings are great on it....... and i must say, pics are deceiving.... but that bass does indeed look larger than the average 6#'er. Quote
