Wow crazy...I've never been there but how did they get so close to the dam that they went over? I usually stay the hell away from those things =P

A quote from the article:

"Neither of them required medical treatment and asked not to be identified."

;D Yeah, it would be hard to live that one down.

Maybe there is some explanation that makes sense, but, you can't get close to that dam w/o knowing that it is there.

there is a video at the end from the NBC4 broadcast. It says their boat malfunctioned.

Wow! Glad to hear they made it out ok.

Sounds like a miscommunication by the police, not the caller. If someone were to call 911 and say "There are two guys about to go over the dam!" you don't send the rescue boats to the other side of the dam..

Of course you send the rescue craft to the wrong side of the dam.

It is Northern Virginia, after all, adjacent to Washington, DC.

Logic does not exist in this part of our country.  :D   :D   :D

A buddy and I were fishing the mouth of Hooes earlier around 11 am. Saw a couple of guys in a glass boat crappie fishing..... I wonder????? Anyone that fishes the res regularly knows that if you have had a big downpour for a couple of days, the water will be moving and and high. Especially around the dam. It would have to be quite the mistake of running too close to the edge if you could not tell that a lot of water was moving over the dam. Glad no one was seriously injured but it just goes to show, you always need to pay attention to your surroundings on the water, especially if it's new to you!!
